Ferragamo FW 2024 Campaign Brews Thoughts on Italian Renaissance & Kamala Harris' Presidential Run

Ferragamo FW 2024 Campaign Brews Thoughts on Italian Renaissance & Kamala Harris' Presidential Run

The rise of the Medici family 1400 years after the founding of Florence is a pivotal chapter in world history, marking a period of extraordinary cultural and political transformation.

The Italian Renaissance Is Relevant

These historical facts are on Anne’s mind because of the timeliness of the Italian Renaissance and its connections to several Italian houses like Brunello Cucianelli and Loro Piana. I don’t think of Ferragamo as a philosophical brand, in the way that Brunello Cucianelli is deeply devoted to the humanist philosophy. But they could be.

In the pursuit of accuracy, there’s no argument to be made that Loro Piana is seeped in philosophy either. However, one weekend in June, AOC’s post on Bella Hadid’s Orabella launch suffered a collision with an Apple News post titled ‘Human Consciousness Is an Illusion’.

How Shein Grabbed H&M America By the Throat | H&M Spring 2024 Campaign

How Shein Grabbed H&M America By the Throat | H&M Spring 2024 Campaign

H&M celebrates Spring 2024 as a time of rebirth and new beginnings in a fresh and sophisticated campaign with equally upmarket clothes. For the women’s portion, models include Anok Yai, Bibi Breslin, Precious Lee, Raquel Zimmermann and Vittoria Ceretti styled by Kate Phelan.

Photographer Rafael Pavarotti [IG] is behind the lens, working with Albert Moya on what’s an exceptional and esoteric campaign film — the entire director’s cut.

In recent days, H&M received positive news in response to the Spring 2024 collections. H&M Group CEO Daniel Ervér, who abruptly replaced Helena Helmersson at the end of January, will tell you that he had little to do with the results.

H&M under Helmersson got caught in the worst possible squeeze and Ervér was her partner in that squeeze, being head of H&M for the last four years.

COVID came and Shein took off like an online rocket ship.

H&M controlled 16% of the fast fashion market in the US in November 2022, behind Shein's 50%. H&M’s $24.9 billion market cap as of November 2023 is approximately 35% of Shein's 2023 private valuation of $66 billion.

Top model and ceramic artist Raquel Zimmermann is a fashion and culture focus for The Travel Almanac FW2022 issue. Clare Byrne styles the restrained, modest fashion silhouettes with Bottega Veneta on the cover.

The organic sensuality of Raquel Zimmermann’s ceramics is almost visceral to AOC eyes. There are artists and talents who are very focused on outward visualization, while others channel the unconscious mind and ancestral voices, compelled to go deeper into the human experience in a universal way.

Steven Meisel's 10 Fab Female Faces for Zara Studio Fall 2021 Campaign

Steven Meisel's 10 Fab Female Faces for Zara Studio Fall 2021 Campaign

Steven Meisel on photography, Fabien Baron on art direction and Karl Templer as stylist are in the house for the new Zara Studio [IG] campaign — a creative effort that sings like an opera star. It’s not often that we just look at images and in 5 seconds know the photographer behind them.

Add 10 models who aren’t wooden mannequins, and Zara Studio has — not a remarkable campaign in a fashion history sense — but a unique, superbly-executed campaign that knocks on the doors of women’s psyches with joy, inner convictions and backbone. it makes AOC want a campaign or fashion story with women all around the world roaring in unison.

We love it, and AOC tends to reject campaigns and fashion stories that are formulaic. So Zara, Meisel, Baron and Templer took 10 unique faces: Amar Akway, Chiharu Okunugi, Kirsten Owen, Marisa Berenson, Meadow Walker, Precious Lee, Raquel Zimmermann, Rianne van Rompaey, Sasha Pivovarova and Yumi Nu and mixed a grade AAAAA studio campaign. That IS NOT an easy feat. ~ Anne

This cover story is another one of those ensemble situations where all creative cylinders are firing in harmony. Love it! ~ Anne
