Dolce & Gabbana Spring-Summer 2024 Campaign by Steven Meisel
/Designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana work with art director Fabien Baron and stylist Karl Templer to create a Spring-Summer 2024 campaign rich with high-class swagger, penetrating eye confidence, and an attitude that says “judge me at your own risk — because I will take you down.”
With Steven Meisel [IG] on photography, the images will have these ingredients because Meisel often plays high-low with his human subjects. As a result, there are layers of meaning and interpretation that seep out of the images and into our own minds. They are created to be mildly disruptive, another characteristic that makes them interesting and one that Meisel understands deeply.
What AOC loves about Dolce & Gabbana is that their garden is an Italian garden in the same way Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli are Italian gardens. But they are planting different crops growing in different parts of Italy and Sicily and Sardinia — from Rome to Milan to Florence and Venice.

/The overall effect of Dior’s pre-fall 2022 fashion statement channels British pop-punk style, embodying a spirit of defiance and individualism in its embrace of the many ways young women can dress.
Given the sweep of anti-LGBTQIA+ laws and anti-women’s rights laws sweeping through America’s red states, Chiuri delivered a collection that has political roots as well — at least in America.
Like myself, Chiuri used her youthful rebellion against the harsh edges and austerity of a Catholic school uniform — and the perpetual guilt enforced on young women by the Catholic hierarchy — as a foundation for the collection’s visual aesthetic. ~ Anne

/Steven Meisel on photography, Fabien Baron on art direction and Karl Templer as stylist are in the house for the new Zara Studio [IG] campaign — a creative effort that sings like an opera star. It’s not often that we just look at images and in 5 seconds know the photographer behind them.
Add 10 models who aren’t wooden mannequins, and Zara Studio has — not a remarkable campaign in a fashion history sense — but a unique, superbly-executed campaign that knocks on the doors of women’s psyches with joy, inner convictions and backbone. it makes AOC want a campaign or fashion story with women all around the world roaring in unison.
We love it, and AOC tends to reject campaigns and fashion stories that are formulaic. So Zara, Meisel, Baron and Templer took 10 unique faces: Amar Akway, Chiharu Okunugi, Kirsten Owen, Marisa Berenson, Meadow Walker, Precious Lee, Raquel Zimmermann, Rianne van Rompaey, Sasha Pivovarova and Yumi Nu and mixed a grade AAAAA studio campaign. That IS NOT an easy feat. ~ Anne

/Dior’s artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri taps photographer Elizaveta Porodina to shoot its fall 2021 campaign. Chiuri favors female photographers who blur the line between photographic images and paintings.
“Through these graphic metamorphoses a singular, contemporary femininity emerges, more liberated than ever,” the house said in a statement.
Dior’s fall collection is rich in fairytale references and a perfect jumping off point for the Russian-born Porodina who was trained as a clinical psychologist. Her relationship with the camera evolved as a form of personal therapy apart from her clinical practice.

Equally important is the reality that no one in his or her right mind can make the argument that the images would be better if the entire Meisel ensemble was in the California desert.
