H&M Summer 2024 Campaign Kills It | Anok, Devyn, Vittoria by Rafael Pavarotti
/AOC’s impression of the H&M Summer 2024 Collection [IG] is simple: H&M Killed It!
The trio of top models Anok Yai, Devyn Garcia and Vittoria Ceretti killed it. Designer Eliana Masgalos hit all the high notes in this sophisticated, vibrant, very wearable collection.
Whatever ancestral spirits photographer Raf Pavarotti [IG] appealed to — collectively with all involved before starting work — they blessed him and this H&M photoshoot.

/H&M celebrates Spring 2024 as a time of rebirth and new beginnings in a fresh and sophisticated campaign with equally upmarket clothes. For the women’s portion, models include Anok Yai, Bibi Breslin, Precious Lee, Raquel Zimmermann and Vittoria Ceretti styled by Kate Phelan.
Photographer Rafael Pavarotti [IG] is behind the lens, working with Albert Moya on what’s an exceptional and esoteric campaign film — the entire director’s cut.
In recent days, H&M received positive news in response to the Spring 2024 collections. H&M Group CEO Daniel Ervér, who abruptly replaced Helena Helmersson at the end of January, will tell you that he had little to do with the results.
H&M under Helmersson got caught in the worst possible squeeze and Ervér was her partner in that squeeze, being head of H&M for the last four years.
COVID came and Shein took off like an online rocket ship.
H&M controlled 16% of the fast fashion market in the US in November 2022, behind Shein's 50%. H&M’s $24.9 billion market cap as of November 2023 is approximately 35% of Shein's 2023 private valuation of $66 billion.

/Supermodel Kendall Jenner mannequins [yes, AOC is making it a verb] the April 2023 cover story of Vogue Italia. Kate Phelan styles Jenner in Burberry, Chloe, Dior, Fendi, Hermes, JW Anderson, Loewe, Max Mara, Prada and more for images by Robin Galiegue [IG].
In her own words, Jenner’s main focus is her mental health and not posing in a fashion magazine. "The beginning of the year was emotionally difficult." Kendall Jenner, 27 years old in November, tells Vogue Italia. It’s not clear whether she means 2022 or 2023. I’m assuming 2022.
“To come out and feel optimistic is reassuring. Everything is temporary, I feel intensely grateful and happy, ready for what's to come,” Kendall says, explaining that she is practicing "hope for something until it comes true, using the law of attraction.”
In this episode — posted a year ago and not part of the Vogue italia interview but Kendall’s mental health is all about the interview —Kendall sits down with Dr. Jorge Partida, Chief of Psychology at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, to discuss social media addiction, our human need to feel connected, and how both of those things can contribute to feelings of anxiety.

/WSJ Magazine goes to Sri Lanka with model Imaan Hammam in the ‘Best Dresses of the Summer’. The very top model, who is tight with Adut Akech and Palomma Elsesser, says about models of color in fashion: “I remember when I started, it was competitive,” pointing out that often only one model of color would get cast for any given job.
As for the headline about Imaan’s work in Africa — which really caught AOC’s eye — Hammam made one trip to Gambia in 2019 with a group called ‘She’s the First’. She hopes to go again in the future.
Now for the photography by Nadine Ijewere [IG] There are some spectacular shots in this fashion story. Several are gallery worthy and kudos to Nadine Ijewere.
Hammam agrees that this is no longer the case.
