Telegraph Luxury embraced a May 2025 issue story Burberry X Highgrove, extending the reach of the recent campaign supporting The King’s Foundation. Rising Australian-born model Venus He is styled by Tona Stell in key pieces from the collaboration lensed by Sam Copeland [IG].
Burberry has launched its fourth capsule in partnership with Highgrove, the foundation dedicated to funding Highgrove Gardens, which surround the private residence of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This ongoing collaboration with Highgrove also promotes the work of The King’s Foundation, a charity founded by then Prince of Wales in 1990 to support now King Charles III’s philosophy of Harmony: that by understanding the balance, order and relationships between ourselves and the natural world, we can create a more sustainable future.
The latest 28-piece Highgrove X Burberry collection has collaborated with British artist Helen Bullock [IG], who has created four artworks inspired by the Kitchen Garden at Highgrove. Bullock said in a statement: “The Gardens are so vast and rich it was hard to decide where to start. But I soon fell for the tangled sway of wildflowers and that special combination of dancing poppies and cosmos.”
New Burberry CEO Josh Schulman is much more focused on the heritage DNA of the Burberry brand, and less so on the runway. Burberry also needs a storyteller, in AOC’s opinion.
Anne had a Eureka moment a few weeks back, weaving Kim Jones’ departure from Dior Men into a new reality: “The future for Kim Jones will include his work with Charleston Trust, where the designer became a vice president in fall 2024.”
Let’s talk British Heritage, Burberry
When Kim Jones made his couture debut at Fendi, he packed up Kate Moss to create ‘Kate Moss at Charleston, Wearing Kim Jones Fendi Couture.’
Olivia Singer interviewed Kim Jones in East Sussex, where he bought a holiday home. Their convo went deep into the synergy between the Bloomsbury artists and the Italians.
The enormous success of Brunello Cucinelli is rooted in the principles of humanism and AOC has been influenced by his thinking in very significant ways.
"It's Always Burberry Weather: London in Love" is a continuation of the campaign released in October 2024.
"A Burberry love story comes to life through the cinematic lens of this campaign. It's about humor, optimism and, of course, the unpredictability of our great British weather," Burberry chief creative officer Daniel Lee told the press.
Burberry [IG] is celebrating Valentine’s Day 2025 with a series of paintings by Brooklyn-based artist Jack Kenna [IG]. The modern-perspective artist creates unconventional pairings of familiar objects in a bold, abstract style.
Kenna’s commissioned Burberry artwork features the Rocking Horse bag, an essential Burberry gift inspired by the house’s equestrian heritage and two very different perspectives on the Burberry scarf. From the Burberry website, add yet another painting of the Mini Snip Chain bag.

Burberry posted positive news in the third quarter ending Dec. 28, with a comparable store drop of 4%, compared with a business analysts forecast of 12%.
New Burberry CEO Joshua Schulman is credited with stemming the double-digit sales declines that defined the first half of 2024. As Schulman noted in a call with analysts, the American market, led by Burberry’s refurbished New York store resulted in a 4% increase Y2Y in America for the 3rd quarter.

Burberry’s Urgent ‘Course Correct’
Business press describes the situation at Burberry as ‘urgent’ and so does Burberry’s new CEO Joshua Schulman. The new leader says the brand is undergoing an urgent ‘course correct’, as revenue plummets 22% in the latest six months ending in September 2024 financial reporting to investors.
Burberry rolled out a massive model and talent roster for its Winter 2024 campaign, lensed by Tyrone Lebon. Unfortunately, even the excitement-generating post-Burberry runway appearance of Agyness Deyn in the celebrating Britain campaign can’t stop the financial blood that Burberry is hemorrhaging so severely that the 168-year brand that left its listing on the FTSE 100 on Wednesday.

The Burberry Prorsum knight rides on every piece, and has not been replaced in this Year of the Dragon. The Chinese celebration images were lensed by Ryan McGinley [IG] in the city of Chengdu, one of China’s fastest growing cities.
After spreading its British wings to international cities with its ‘Burberry Streets’ sightings, Burberry’s Daniel Lee again heads home, assembling a motley British-related and credentialed crew for the brand’s Spring 2024 campaign.
Tyrone Lebon again is the photographer for Burberry, rowing in total synchronocity with Daniel Lee.
One sports figure in the campaign is professional boxer Somali-British Ramla Ali, who is also a Dior ambassador. She’s rather dear to AOC’s heart.
The founder of Sisters Club, Ali scored a vindicating win over Julissa Guzman, in early November. The luxury brands boxer suffered a ‘shocking’ defeat to Guzman in June 2023, which is why we use the word ‘vindicating’.
Oyadeas! I simply adore Creative Director Daniel Lee’sBurberry Holiday [IG] 2023 campaign. ADORE IT!! It’s charming, genuine, not camp but quiet luxury gone a tiny bit wild.
Roe Ethridge [IG] shoots this precious masterpiece, with creative direction by Carina Frey and Stefanie Barth.
The logo fully communicates Burberry without ruining the larger-image, buy-me item. He’s leaving before you can be annoyed with him — sort of like an apparition. He’s like “Chill, Anne, I’m leaving.”
Actually the Burberry knight reminds me of the Tribute of Light show outside my high-floor, lower Manhattan window after Sept. 11 in New York. Tribute always came to visit us and even stayed the night. But then he was gone when I woke up, off to bring a bit of hope and serenity elsewhere in our complicated world.
For a couple years we tried to trap him for at least a cup of morning French Roast, but Tribute always outsmarted us, slipping out the window at dawn.
The field of Burberry winter 2023 purple roses popping into the first floor of Seoul’s Shinsegae Department Store's Gangnam branch is a feast for our psilocybin-loving eyes.
This new Burberry pop-up in Seoul is sophisticated, charming in a totally-modern way and also a reflection of ‘restrained psychedelic design’. There is nothing ‘flashy’ about the visual design. It beckons us, however to explore the shop — which is a key attribute of a successful pop-up.
‘Restrained Psychedelic Design’
Magic mushrooms inspired profound introspection and spiritual connections long before the rise of monotheism.
In a world where psilocybin use is coming at us in a profound and urgent way — after a Nixon-administration 50-year ban — my reaction to the Burberry purple roses display was instantaneous.
My memory was transported to my own use of psilocybin and a dark night walk I took, eventually sitting down next to a flower bed on my own lawn.
Burberry Goddess fragrance grows its green credentials with the release of its new fragrance in a refillable bottle. The running wild with lions campaign starring British-French actor and new ambassador for Burberry Beauty Emma Mackey, released on July 31.
The inspiring, emotional Burberry Goddess video was created with live footage of lionesses in their natural environment and CGI [computer-generated imagery] technology.
On June 29, 2023 creative director Daniel Lee’s evolution of the Burberry brand continued with the opening of the renovated New Bond Street store in London.
The 22,000 sq m space stretching over three floors, has been transformed into a minimal, modern space with an with open-plan design.
It’s safe to say that in the area of store design, Burberry has met the 21st century, and there is nothing uniquely British about the interior environment.
Burberry’s [IG] Winter 2023 campaign is out, lensed by Tyrone Lebon [IG] in Scotland’s Isle of Skye and Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway.
About the cow . . .
AOC needs to make one small point. We are thrilled with the cow, and the speed with which Burberry delivered it. It was only Monday in writing about Daniel Lee’s second Resort 2024 collection, that we brought up cows for Burberry. Voila! We have a cow.
It’s great but . . .. . . it was cows in relation to the Burberry dandelion print revised to a daffodil. Because we are promoting a great climate change study with cows and daffodils.
First up for Vogues September is Burberry, styled by Tabitha Simmons in images that give us a solid dose of dopamine dressing. Models Elise Crombez, Grace Musase, Jean Campbell, Pratik Shetty,Sherry Shi, and Shivaruby are fired up and ready to commune with our precious outdoors.

British luxury house Burberry unveiled its Summer 2023 Swimwear Collection channeling the brand’s signature code of adventure.
It was Jacqueline Dillemman - a buyer in Burberry’s Paris store, who had a flash of inspiration in 1967, while preparing a presentation for the British ambassador Sir Patrick Reilley.
Dillemman removed [cut out] the check lining from a coat lining and wrapped it around luggage and an umbrella. Voilà. The Burberry Check was reborn for today’s world.
There’s zero politics that I see in the campaign. But there’s much about the ‘60s and early ‘70s that did embrace a revolutionary optimism among open-minded young people worldwide.
This early concept of the global citizen was not universally shared in America or Britain or in most countries of the world. But the idea took root in the minds of millions of young people, who never dreamed that it would be so difficult to get to the promised land 60+ years later. ~ Anne
Daniel Lee’s Burberry debut is gaining momentum, as he charts a new course for the brand. This part 2 drop of the new ad campaign called ‘The New Creative Expression’ delivers new personalities to help define the Burberry ‘family’.
The Burberry Family Expands
South Korean football star Son Heung-min became a Burberry ambassador in June 2022. The brand devotes major online presence to a serious interview with the Premier League player, now living in the UK.
Entering the Burberry fam is Georgia May Jagger, who delivers near British royalty as the daughter of The Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger and model Jerry Hall. Jagger also delivers a sensual jolt to the emerging Burberry narrative.
The star of the campaign is the Equestrian Knight logo, revived from the brand’s archives and oh so Burberry. Add him to a corgi image, and the Brits are swooning. I adore its presence everywhere — in an almost off-kilter manner. The knight is also ubiquituous in the fall 2023 collection — on labels in unexpected places. ‘Off-kilter’ is a Burberry theme on my mind.
It was difficult to miss the equestrian knight motif racing across the new Spring 2023 Burberry Campaign as part of “the first creative expression” shared by Daniel Lee, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer.
For AOC, our focus was on the faces of the British heritage brand Burberry, the visualization of who wears this brand.
Daniel Lee, with roots in West Yorkshire, England agrees. “Burberry flies the flag for Britishness and for the UK and for culture. So, we have to use our platforms because we have a responsibility to communicate those things,” Lee told ‘Vogue Runway’ in December.
The designer continued:
"I don’t know if this is the right way to say this, but more than surprising people, I really would like them to see the new vision and feel reassured — like, ‘Oh, yeah, this makes sense: This is what Burberry should be.’”
Riccardo Tisci’s departure from Burberry is not unexpected — and none of the rumblings questions around Tisci’s design talent of vision. The question involved much more the continuation of his edgy and goth aesthetic at Burberry — the look that brought him great notoriety and success at Givenchy.
Most creatives and fashion writers don’t engage themselves in a brand’s financial performance. Loving a collection is all that counts. Choosing words that should not be misconstrued by readers, Vogue’s Sarah Mower queried the strategic wisdom of Tisci’s “border-free, non-nationalistic points of view.”
When AOC looked at financial performance under Tisci’s Burberry, clearly the brand basically treaded water. For every new Burberry customer, the luxury brand lost an existing one.
