Burberry Spring 2024 Campaign by Tyrone Lebon Enlists Unique, Inspiring Cast

After spreading its British wings to international cities with its ‘Burberry Streets’ sightings, Burberry’s Daniel Lee again heads home, assembling a motley British-related and credentialed crew for the brand’s Spring 2024 campaign.

Anne lost her heart to Burberry’s Holiday 2023/4 campaign, calling it a “splendiferous emotional getaway.” Yes, I truly adored it, but was also setting an AI trap for my personal observation.

Burberry’s Spring 2024 campaign is out and about, hitting IG-worthy London spots including The French House pub to Portobello Market and Bar Italia.

Rising model Stevie Sims [above], is represented by KMA [Kate Moss Agency].

Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems [above] brings fresh beauty and attitude to the campaign.

[Both below] Iris Law poses cross-armed in a creamy, quilted bomber jacket, while actor Rachel Weiss gets the optical, green-plaid — no you’re not on magic mushrooms — full-body, center-slit Burberry dress treatment.

“Burberry has this amazing ability to stay contemporary and relevant, especially with Daniel’s touch, while still maintaining the heritage and history,” Law told The Face.

Tyrone Lebon again is the photographer for Burberry, rowing in total synchronocity with Daniel Lee.

The cast includes Indian model Naomi Janumala [below left] and Irish actress and singer Jessie Buckley [below right].

North London star rivals [below], footballers Bukayo Saka and Son Heung-Min face off in the new Burberry campaign.

Saka is an English professional footballer who plays as a right winger for Premier League club Arsenal and the England national team.

Son Heung-min is a South Korean professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the South Korea national team, both of which he captains.

Another sports figure in the campaign is professional boxer Somali-British Ramla Ali [below top], who is also a Dior ambassador.

On a personal AOC note, the founder of Sisters Club, Ali scored a vindicating win over Julissa Guzman, in early November. The luxury brands boxer suffered a ‘shocking’ defeat to Guzman in June, which is why we use the word ‘vindicating’.

AOC deliberately avoided the word ‘revenge match’, which is how the fight in Monte Carlo was promoted and reported on. We’re tired of ‘revenge’ — especially in highly-religious countries.

Anne watched the June 2023 fight between Ali and Guzman; and felt so badly for the heavily-favored Ali’s defeat. AOC had just written about her Dior Lady 95.22 Bag campaign.

South Korean Burberry ambassador Jun Ji-hyun [above] is joined in the Burberry Spring 2024 campaign by [below] rising model Rakim Janneh, who is also walking Burberry shows.

English singer, songwriter, musician, rapper and record producer King Krule [below left] and Slew [below right], an American artist heavily influenced by graffiti and street culture reinforce Burberry’s efforts to reinforce its British heritage roots while also reaching out to unexpected and somewhat eccentric artists and creative types.

Top model turned actor and longtime Burberry face Jourdan Dunn [above] joins the campaign.

Swedish singer-songwriter and rapper of mixed African-European descent Neneh Cherry [below left] and rising Burberry model Amelie Steele [below right] reinforce the Burberry message of broad-identity wings.

The Burberry entourage is an eclectic brood of multi-cultural talent and successful people who don’t dominate the luxury brand’s message or identity. They aren’t headlines in and of themselves, a la the Kardashian-Jenner clan or Hailey Bieber, as examples.

This cast of talent is more of a Burberry orchestra playing an ensemble concert to discrete customers — not that there’s anything discrete about these designs. The customers are discrete in not being too keen on advertising their exclusive-club status in affording Burberry.

This is the same distinguishing approach AOC has discussed in comparing Gucci Valigeria luggage campaigns to Rimowa luggage campaigns.

Rimowa and Burberry are in the same camp, one Anne has called the “cultural creatives” v. the “moderns”, increasingly monied and disconnected from “the little people”. Burberry never promoted that kind of elitism, but Daniel Lee’s approach is to reinforce that message.

AOC is coming up empty-handed this moment on Rittika Ray [below].

Principal dancer at The Royal Ballet, Matthew Ball [all cast below] looks like the cat who ate the canary, wearing a moss-coloured cardigan and sunnies, while holding a bouquet of white roses.

Model He Cong also wears sunnies, as English and Icelandic, earnest and authentic poet-musician and composer Damon Alburn leaves his sunnies at home.
