'Checking Out' at Ritz Hotel Paris by Tim Walker Prompts New Art of Living Hotel Stories

In 2012, Grace Coddington styled Josephine Skriver, Kate Moss, Mirte Maas, Patricia van der Vliet and Sigrid Agren in Tim Walker’s phantasmagoria of feminine beauty and luxury hotel romanticism in ‘Checking Out’ for Vogue US. The hotel is the Ritz Paris and it prompted a move of the fashion story into AOC Living, with the intention of writing in-depth about the history of the famous hotel and its founders César and Marie-Louise Ritz.

AOC Taps Debra Shaw in Dior Cruise 2025 for a History Lesson on Pre-Christian Scottish Women

Maria Grazia Chiuri staged her Dior Cruise 2025 show in the gardens of Drummond Castle in Scotland, with bagpipes making the occasion. The winter Luxe issue of Grazia UK [IG] features top model Debra Shaw wearing key pieces from the Dior Cruise 2025 collection, lensed by Silvana Trevale [IG] at the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland.

Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri Always Finds the Unique Makers for Her Collections

In fashion we concentrate so much on shape Grazia said, but textiles are a big part of our job—what you can do with them, and the changes you can make through them.” So, Chiuri went to the traditional—the tartan and cashmeres, the tweeds and the Argyles—and deftly filtered them into a collection which variously drew on the geopolitics of fabrics.

Chiuri’s collection and brief history lesson took AOC on a breakthrough journey into the history of women in Scotland and beyond. Anne never intended to land in a deep-dive into the Middle Ages. In fact, that’s exactly where our Gleneagles Defender landed.

Elon Musk March 2025 News: Walter Isaacson Talks Musk and Cruelty

Walter Isaacson and Lex Fridman Discuss the Often Alleged Cruelty of Steve Jobs and Elon Musk.

This video exchange between Walter Isaacson and Lex Fridman on Steve Jobs and Elon Musk came from AOC’s search question: “Is Elon Musk innately cruel?”

Isaacson's journey as a biographer is marked by a singular focus on capturing the human essence behind public personas, offering an exploration of the complex interplay between personal and professional spheres.

The author has earned the trust of some of America’s most prominent men — which says a lot about Isaacson’s own character and intentions.

In this video, Isaacson and MIT researcher Lex Fridman discuss cruelty — or beyond abrasive behavior — often expressed by both Jobs and Musk towards staff and other business associates.

Megalomaniac Politicians: Engage in Grandiose Public Displays of Self-Importance

Megalomania in politics often manifests through a relentless pursuit of power and control, with actions driven by an exaggerated sense of self-importance and an unyielding belief in personal superiority.

Politicians with megalomaniac tendencies are likely to prioritize their personal ambitions over the collective good, often employing manipulative tactics to consolidate power.

Celina Ralph for Sunday Times Style UK Suggests Regression on Larger Size Models

Celina Ralph for Sunday Times Style UK Suggests Regression on Larger Size Models

Buzz-cut model Celina Ralph does business class, styled by Verity Parker in masculine suiting, crisp shirts and a tie for images by Ina Levy [IG].

It could be that fashion comes to rest around Celina Ralph’s body type as much more aspirational than in the past. And Ralph is in good company with shrinking-bodies models on Ozympic-style drugs. She cites her concerns generally on this topic:

“We have to be careful of tokenism,” she says. “Of course we celebrate when designers and brands celebrate women of different sizes, but there has to be longevity, and we definitely haven’t got there yet. What we need in this industry is variation — we need all different versions of beauty.”

Factually-speaking, about 50% of luxury sales in clothing are coming from 1% of the population. Very, very few of those women are not model size, and they’ve always been thin.

We have more than four-years of luxury brands featuring significant numbers of larger-size models on the runway with little or no financial payback. Celina Ralph may be the body type all brands can embrace in today’s business climate, also bodies like Ashley Graham’s, who is a tour de force far beyond her body size.

After all, many of us are trying to save democratic governments and core human rights in our politics. Our focus is just not on the psychological demands of these women.

Tyler Mitchell's Three Beauties -- Anok, Awar, Mona on Jekyll Island, Ga -- in Vogue Magazine

Top models Anok Yai, Awar Odhiang and Mona Tougaard surely had a deeply emotional experience, working with stylist Camilla Nickerson in this ancient roots fashion story for Vogue, shot by Tyler Mitchell [IG] in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Key Points About Jekyll Island

1] the human and ecological history of Jekyll Island, which now dates back to 2500 BC and the indigenous Native American tribes, predominantly the Guale people who lived there; 2] the arrival of the Europeans and slavery on the island; 3] the rise on Jekyll Island of an aristocratic cafe society getaway culture in the 1920s that parallels the same rise in Europe

Blame WWD: If Daniel Lee Is Taking a Final Burberry Bow Monday, AOC Is All In for Kim Jones

New Burberry CEO Josh Schulman is much more focused on the heritage DNA of the Burberry brand, and less so on the runway. Burberry also needs a storyteller, in AOC’s opinion.

Anne had a Eureka moment a few weeks back, weaving Kim Jones’ departure from Dior Men into a new reality: “The future for Kim Jones will include his work with Charleston Trust, where the designer became a vice president in fall 2024.”

Let’s talk British Heritage, Burberry

When Kim Jones made his couture debut at Fendi, he packed up Kate Moss to create ‘Kate Moss at Charleston, Wearing Kim Jones Fendi Couture.’

Olivia Singer interviewed Kim Jones in East Sussex, where he bought a holiday home. Their convo went deep into the synergy between the Bloomsbury artists and the Italians.

The enormous success of Brunello Cucinelli is rooted in the principles of humanism and AOC has been influenced by his thinking in very significant ways.
