December is the month for Harper’s Bazaar country-specific WOTY [Women of the Year] 2025 awards for women who inspire. AOC opens with Harper’s Bazaar Spain’s [IG] selection of Simone Biles for the Sport Icon Award.
Claudia Laukamp styles Biles in images by JUANKR [IG].
In the case of Simone Biles, she is a model of women who have embraced their vulnerability and “turned their wounds into feats of courage”.
From dealing with two — not one — cases of “the twisties” as we learned just recently; to the absolutely savage way Biles was treated by men when she withdrew from Tokyo Olympics for fear of breaking her neck; to Simone Biles testifying before Congress on September 15, 2021, in the Larry Nasser case of her own sexual abuse by the doctor of women gymnasts — Simone Biles is the inspiring type of woman Harper’s Bazaar Spain is honoring this December.

Think China. And Rong Zhai
Prada has injected this creative examination of its archives and the Galleria bag, in particular, into a weekend event at the brand’s four-story Rong Zhai, a restored historical mansion blending Art Deco and Chinese motifs in downtown Shanghai. The cultural center has been transformed into a cinematic villa that moves beyond a focus on the current creative collaboration between Johansson and Lanthimos.
As one of Prada’s bestsellers, the Galleria bag does command its own attention and focus at this second ‘Prada Gallery Invites’. Italian craftsmen will be on site to offer live demonstration of the production process, to facilitate Galleria personalization orders and also offer leather care services.

The Original Mille Miglia [1927-1957]
The Race: This was a dangerous, high-speed endurance race held on public roads in Italy. The figure-eight shaped course ran from Brescia to Rome and back, covering about 1,000 miles. The race was banned in 1957 following a horrific crash that killed driver Alfonso de Portago, his navigator, and nine spectators.
Legacy: The original race was known for making famous marques like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz, with legendary drivers like Stirling Moss competing.
In 1977, the Modern 1000 Miglia was reborn. See the details in AOC Fashion.
