In these images Sophie Dahl channels Marilyn Monroe in Amagansett in the summer of 1957. The private location inspired photographer Sam Shaw to take some of the most relaxed and natural images of Marilyn ever recorded.

De Armas is receiving rave reviews, except for the disgruntled few who detect the Cuban accent the Latina has worked so hard to eliminate in the film. ‘Blonde’ is based on a fictitious portrayal of Monroe in the novel, and we want the haters to keep quiet. Marilyn Monroe is a symbol for all women, not a select few.
The quiet, but articulate actor amps the level of intrusion around her life in LA and why she had to live the city. “It became a little bit too much. There’s no escape. There’s no way out.” In Los Angeles, she adds, “it’s always the feeling of something that you don’t have, something missing. It’s a city that keeps you anxious.”
