Ana de Armas receives major compliments in the Madame Figaro interview by Christelle Laffin, who writes:

“She has guts, she knows how to play everything. It was time for us to realize that.” Usually stingy with compliments, Daniel Craig was full of praise for Ana de Armas , who played the most endearing character in At Knives Out and the twirling and sexy James Bond girl (with her garter belts between seen in a shooting scene…) of Dying Can Wait. In two films by his side, the ex-007 joined the club of fervent admirers of the lovely brunette with golden eyes. Jamie Lee Curtis, her friend since filming Knives Out, compared her to Sophia Loren, referring to her European sensibility combined with devastating sex appeal.

AOC has examined what appears to be a manufactured crisis for clickbait around Ana de Armas’ accent in the Marilyn Monroe biopic ‘Blonde’ coming to Netflix in September. Of course, a few humans complained about the Latina’s accent — even though she worked for a year to get Marilyn’s speaking patterns as simulated as possible. Meanwhile, she screened four other films.

In spite of the headlines, and the new intervention of the Marilyn Monroe estate on her behalf, the controversy of de Armas’ voice seems to be contained.

Although Andrew Dominik’s film, based on a novel by Joyce Carol Oates, is not officially authorized by Monroe’s estate, it affirms that it still stands by de Armas’ casting. Oates, author of the novel is thrilled with the film, as we noted in another fashion story from ELLE US: Ana de Armas' Fall 2022 Marilyn Monroe 'Blonde' Netflix Debut | ELLE US Interview AOC Fashion

“Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history,” said Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group, which owns the Marilyn Monroe Estate. “Any actor that steps into that role knows they have big shoes to fill. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn’s glamour, humanity and vulnerability. We can’t wait to see the film in its entirety!”
