Marion Cotillard Collaborates On Chopard Ethical Jewellery Capsule
/Chopard ambassador French actor, singer-songwriter, musician and environmentalist Marion Cotillard has collaborated with the brand in the creation of a jewelry capsule now part of Chopard’s Ice Cube collection. The environmentalist worked with Chopard’s artistic director Eliott Bliss in creating modern jewelry pieces with a modern and wearable feel.
Reflecting to Chopard’s strong credentials in ethics and transparency, the designs are created with ethically-sourced materials only.
“By bringing her interpretation to our Ice Cube collection, she is inventing a contemporary and relaxed way to wear diamonds,” Chopard’s co-president, Caroline Scheufele said about the actor. “It is a great pleasure to combine her ideas with our expertise in the realm of ethical jewellery.”
Chopard announced in July 2018 that — as of that date, the company it would only use 100% ethical gold in its creation of fine jewellery and exceptional Swiss watches. At the time, Co-Founder and Creative Director of The Eco Age, Livia Firth stated, "today, thanks to The Global Goals, we have a 17 point plan laying out social and natural capital goals - and no one should be exempt from these.
"Connecting citizens with what has been called one of the most critical initiatives of our times is absolutely essential and exciting, if we wish to see a path to a more sustainable and just future. It is exciting to have Chopard share this vision and at Eco-Age we look forward to working with them to achieve this."
“Chopard has accompanied me since my debut as an actress and I share Caroline Scheufele’s commitment to ethics, so this new collaboration is a great way to further strengthen the ties between us,” Cotillard said about the project.
Speaking further about the relationship between Chopard and the luxury market, Cotillard said in a joint summer 2020 interview of the two environmentalists:
I think the people who buy luxury, who live in luxury, can really do something about it. When you can afford luxury, you have to use that kind of freedom to really educate yourself about where things come from. Caroline, you mentioned that you had to train Chopard employees, but I think that by extension you have to explain to customers and the people who love Chopard. I see it as a beautiful way of raising awareness about something that is very important and that affects all of us.
