Liu Wen is wearing Chanel’s new ‘Reach for the Stars’ High Jewelery Collection, honoring iconic symbols of human civilization and Gabrielle Chanel’s legacy. Austin Feng also chooses Chanel fashion looks from the Fall 2025 collection as Liu Wen’s backdrops for the new high jewelry collection.

Three symbols are the core of Chanel’s ‘Reach for the Stars’ High Jewelery Collection: the lion, the comet and, introduced for the first time, wings that are reimagined as contemporary icons of the maison.

The comet’s history as a Chanel symbol, especially in high jewelry, dates back to Gabrielle ‘Coco Chanel’s’first and only high jewelry collection in 1932. The founder and creator of Chanel was inspired and fascinated by the heavens, prompting her to announce “I wanted to cover women in constellations.” Her ‘1932: The Bijoux de Diamants’ collection included comets, stars and the sun all bowing down to a diamond comet necklace.

Chanel is debuting 90 of the 109-piece ‘Reach for the Stars’ high jewelry collection in 2025, with an identity closely aligned as a tribute to Patrice Leguéreau, Director of the Chanel Jewelry Creation Studio since 2009. Leguéreau died in November 2024, at the age of 53.

The lion was Gabrielle Chanel’s astrological sign, first appearing in Chanel’s high jewelry in 2012.

It’s generally agreed that the most significant motif in the new collection is the wings, making their first-ever appearance in Chanel High Jewelry.

Dorothée Saintville, international product marketing director of watches and fine jewelery at Chanel, explains: “Translated into precious creations, the design of the wings embodies the Chanel signature through pure graphic and sophisticated lines, in the glamorous spirit that inspires the collection.”

REACH FOR THE STARS High Jewelry Collection WINGS OF CHANEL Necklace

Chanel [IG]: “A creation that introduces a new graphic and sensual emblem into the House’s jewelry universe: spread wings in openwork gold, like embroidery set with precious stones delicately resting around the neck. An incredibly fine lace of jewels, elongated by a detachable line of star-studded diamonds that can be worn as a bracelet. At the center of the necklace, appearing for the first time in a CHANEL High Jewelry collection, a cushion-cut Padparadscha sapphire, weighing an exceptional and rare 19.55 carats, illuminates this creation with an incandescent radiance, thanks to its subtle play of colors from pink to orange.”

WWD provides further background on Chanel’s ‘Reach for the Stars’ high jewelry collection, describing the references to the designer’s Hollywood era, a brief period of the late 1920s to early ‘30s in which she designed costumes for movies and stars like Gloria Swanson.
