‘Panthère de Cartier’ Ambassadors Jisoo of BLACKPINK and Ella Balinska Fall 2022 Campaign
/Jeanne Toussaint, the first female Cartier Director of Fine Jewellery appointed from 1933 - 1970, inspired the sensuous and iconic Panthère that’s visually synonymous with the Cartier brand. A wild, untamable animal whose symbolism and elegance have reigned over the Maison's creativity for almost 100 years, her panther magnetism is channeled today by two ambassadors in the new Fall 2022 campaign.
In the latest ‘Panthère de Cartier’ images, the panther is worn by global ambassador Jisoo of BLACKPINK and actor Ella Balinska, also a face of the Maison. The Korean pop star became an official Cartier ambassador on May 24, 2022 joining a roster that includes Balinska and also Annabelle Wallis, Chang Chen, Mariacarla Boscono, and Yasmine Sabri.
“I’m so glad to be a part of Cartier’s grand journey. It’s truly an honour and pleasure for me to join the Panthère tribe, where everyone proves their strength of character. I can’t wait to share Panthère’s great beauty with everyone,” Jisoo said about the announcement. She is also an ambassador for Dior.
With Jisoo’s May announcement, Arnaud Carrez, Cartier’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said “When we wanted to embody the magnetic aura of the panther, our attention was instinctively drawn to Jisoo. With her self-assured style, she is the voice of a new generation of creatives who dare to show their different talents. She is an artist who takes on her role with great creative freedom, never limiting herself.”
Cartier tapped ‘Charlie’s Angels’ British actor Ella Balinska in November 2019 as a brand ambassador of its Panthère de Cartier collection. A graduate from the prestigious Guildford School of Acting, Balinska has also trained in martial arts at the Academy of Performance Combat for the film.
Currently a ‘Resident Evil’ star, Balinska’s jujitsu gave her an action-hero edge. Before accepting the role, she also knew how to handle 12 different weapons. The Netflix live-action series made its debut in July, 2022.
Delivering a performance that showrunner Andrew Dabb has described as “fantastic, emotional … [she] carried our entire future storyline on her shoulders,” before adding to THR: “She was more than game to tackle any of the stunts we threw at her and we threw a lot at her. She kicked ass. You’d never know this was Ella’s first hour-long series.”
Balinska also stars in 2020 Sundance darling ‘Run Sweetheart Run’, which was bought by Amazon and is slated for an October 2022 release. In addition to Cartier, Ella Balinska is also an ambassador for Clé de Peau Beauté.
Cartier’s Newly-Renovated New York Boutique
In Cartier’s newly-renovated, 28,772 square-foot in Manhattan, the Compagnie Financière Richemont‘s owned largest Cartier boutique has been reenvisioned as a cultural distination by Paris-based interior designer Laura Gonzalez.
“It’s an iconic address of the maison, filled with history and anecdotes,” Gonzalez said of the Fifth Avenue location. “Our ambition was to breathe back life, a new dynamic, while respecting its past and preserving its soul, which you can still feel very well”, reported WWD.
High jewelry stores have “always been closed spaces where people could not see what was going on inside, so I truly believe that we are facing new luxury codes where there’s a light opening from the inside to the outside and the other way round,” the designer continued in defining Cartier’s new approach to the boutique.
Gonzalez also linked the Cartier spirit to organic parts of the city — its parks — by introducing lush green hues into the space, seen in the furnishings throughout and the carpeting that ascends the grand staircase. “I simply think that green represents vegetation, nature,” she explained. “Fifth Avenue is very close to Central Park, and I needed to include all these elements in the project to create an oasis, a peaceful beacon in between classicism and the building’s history.”
On a related note — AOC is always searching for sustainability progress — Cartier uses more than 90% recycled gold in its creations, while supporting a small-scale gold mine in Peru. This tandem approach allows strong footprint reduction while supporting sustainable mining practices and contributing to positive social and environmental impact in the mine’s communities.
