The Versace Spring 2022 Campaign by Mert & Marcus is a sight to behold. W Magazine writes that it’s two years since the Hadid sisters have posed together for a photoshoot, and they look glorious. Gigi and Bella pose together and with Donatella because it’s all about the sisterhood.

“Family is always at the heart of everything I do, which is why I love Bella and Gigi so much,” Donatella Versace said. “They perfectly exemplify the strength between sisters, and they share that message to our Versace sisterhood worldwide. I want this campaign to be a warm hug to the global Versace family at the start of 2022!”

Of working a Versace campaign with her younger sister, Gigi described it as a “dream.” Naturally, she gushed about working with Versace as well. “Being a Versace girl has been one of my greatest honors over the years; but the most valued moments are the ones with you, @donatella_versace,” she wrote on Instagram. “If you get to know your heroes, and they’re better than you could have dreamed, remind them! I love you, DV, and appreciate you so much.”

No one has commented on the graphics, which we find exceptionally effective and a perfect complement to the fierce women in motion attitude of the high-impact visuals. The graphics are like a deck of cards, reshuffled in their visual order, and chopped off for maximum novelty and originality.

Versace’s La Medusa bag shares space with Medusa hair, hair, hair everywhere. Braids undone become fiery, fierce locks that remind us of Gianni Versace and his pre-Balmain army of supers in formation.

We note now that photographers Mert & Marcus reviewed heritage Versace imagery by Richard Avedon. Taking a trip to Google images, this is one vintage campaign worth sharing. In 1992/1993 there was Versace Medusa hair EVERYWHERE. Frankly, the graphics here give the Mert & Marcus images even higher-impact.

Besides the silent presence of the Greek monster Medusa — one of three powerful, winged daemons sisters — the Versace Spring 2022 campaign enjoys the for-real presence of Versace’s new face, Colombian singer Maluma. Donatella Versace has made cameo appearances in campaigns before, and she looks totally radiant and gorgeous in these images.
