Vibrant Versace Flash 2021 Campaign Honors BLM With AJ Tracey, Anok Yai

Versace launches Versace Flash 2021 Campaign, resort capsule — coed clothes that shout self-confidence and optimism in our lockdown world. A cool lo-fi video was released during Milan Digital Fashion Week featuring a performance by the British rapper AJ Tracey and American model Anok Yai, both feeling the pulse of Donatella Versace’s snake-printed, young musicians rebelling ensembles from the collection.

Vogue writes that during a showroom review appointment, “members of the design studio praised La Signora’s confident lockdown direction, hosting constant Zoom chats and steering the team towards a daring, instinctual approach—fun, creative, more personal. Joyful colors, energy, and “nothing boring, people don’t want boring clothes right now,” was apparently what she recommended.”

Other models in the campaign include Evelina Lauren, Paco Diouf and Sacha Quenby — all styled by Jacob K. Photographer Arnaud Lajeunie is behind the lens for the vibrant, “can we just forget about this for one month, please” campaign./ Makeup by Miriam Langellotti; hair by Alessandro Squarza

Versace was one of two brands to launched a livestream, rather than video presentation, and Donatella won high praise for truly supporting Black Lives Matter — not only with AJ Tracey’s presence but his lyrics. The chorus of his brilliant rap was:’

“How can I trust these folk who don’t even allow me to breathe?
Get out the numbers, get out the car when I want to see.
I got my first in the air. This night is bigger than me.
I stand with my brothers. You kill all my brothers and beat up on  me.”
