Blueblood Alex Consari Wears Quiet Luxury Lensed by Arnauld Lajeune for The Travel Almanac

Model Alex Consari is styled by Clare Byrne in a fashion story with Quiet Luxury bonafides. If you think the fashion choices look like the Old Money Aesthetic, you’re right. The trends are difficult to distinguish, except that Quiet Luxury is often more modern. / Hair by Lucas Wilson; makeup by Jen Myles

What troubles AOC about all these style-trends articles is that you rarely read the word “sustainability’, which we argue should be a cornerstone of Quiet Luxury and/or an Old Money Aesthetic wardrobe.

Additionally, an Old Money Aesthetic often involves repairing older items — even if the repair is visible to the eyes of others. It means “I have so much money, I could care less about your nouveau riche opinion. My Hermès Kelly bag is battered, and I love my patches. How about yours?”

Photographer Arnaud Lajeunie [IG] captures Alex with her signature pearls for The Travel Almanac [IG] TTA22 - “Performance". AOC loves pearls.

PETA is down on pearls, but others argue that an ethical pearl farmer will use a special knife to open the oyster and remove the pearl without damaging the oyster. Nor will the mussle feel any unnecessary stress. After the pearl is harvested, the oyster is returned to the water, so it can continue to grow and potentially produce more pearls.

Just buy less, buy sustainable and even better — buy renewed or be knowledgeable about the fibers/fabrics in your new purchases. If Quiet Luxury and/or Old Money Aesthetic trends show up on a Shein website, I will scream. ~ Anne
