Bella Hadid by Bryce Anderson Takes 4 Covers in The Perfect Magazine #6 SS-2024
/Supermodel Bella Hadid returns to the limelight with these four covers for The Perfect Magazine [IG] Issue Six Spring/Summer 2024.
Perfect writes on IG: “From elusive to exclusive. At the end of last year, the inimitable Bella Hadid returned to the studio with Bryce Anderson [IG] and Katie Grand [IG] after a chosen period of quiet. She wanted to art direct herself.” / Hair by Akki Shirakawa; makeup by Sam Visser
Acting as her own art director — but with significant input from Katie Grand, based on new commentary from Perfect’s founder Grand —Bella chose to proceed with these images as her own form of self-expression.
The shoot is inspired by an image of Debbie Harry performing in 1978, wearing as a dress a poster she had torn from the wall outside the venue.
Bella is wearing a Corbin Shaw tee ‘Screaming in Perfect English’ on the fourth cover — and Corbin is a major source of inspo for the covers.
From Perfect: “A panoply of talents share the landscapes where they belong, where they love, where they create, where they return to for sustenance. 594 pages featuring an epic star studded portfolio photographed by the iconic David Bailey in his legendary London studio. With stories by Willy Vanderperre, Juergen Teller, Felix Cooper, Malick Bodian, T-Bone Fletcher, Bryce Anderson, Thibault-Théodore, Sebastián Faena, Liz Collins, Carlijn Jacobs and Toby McFarlan Pond.”
Debbie Harry, Katie Grand, Corbin Shaw Come Together
Grand had watched a BBC2 Saturday night special on Debbie Harry and the story of the wrap-around her body poster dress. Some time ago Giles Deacon and Grand had “made simple clothes out of Tyvek paper (as had before - Mary Quant, Courreges, Stephen Sprouse, Hussein Chalayan and on and on had) and I thought maybe we could make some posters for Bella and kind of turn them in to clothes. “
Corbin Shaw had just shown “his exhibition ‘The People Fled When The Sun Went Down’ in east London and the simplicity of the slogan artwork seemed right. And here we are, two months later, with these covers by the very talented Bryce Anderson for the new issue of Perfect” Grand concludes.

Meanwhile, Anne will be mulling over the message ‘Screaming in Perfect English’; Debbie Harry — who is also an icon of mine and I’ve been compared to her more than once; and another phrase on Perfect IG, sharing the covers and referring to Bella:
‘Raw Fashion Power’
Reflections on Raw Power
Anne began her day reflecting on the raw power of Charlamagne Tha God’s views on sitting out the upcoming 2024 presidential election, because Biden is too old. It’s time to flex the power of young voters in America by not voting, says CTG.
AOC doesn’t underestimate Charlamagne’s influence on young voters, and especially young Black voters.
Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, representing American voters of Palestinian heritage in Michigan, has called on all Muslim voters to sit out the 2024 election, promising to show us all — including me — what raw power looks like.
Rep. Tlaib knows this action would bring Trump back to global power in the American presidency and so does Charlemagne.
The Supreme Court is lost with their ‘power’ strategy for as long as 30 years, because Trump would replace the conservative judges who believe in no affirmative action, no right of women to control our own bodies, the legal status of a fertilized embryo is equal to a grown woman with four kids and an adoring husband; the abolition of voting rights and much more with equally young uber-conservative judges.
Many young conservative MAGA white men are publicly stating that women are most effective as mothers, and we should get out of the workforce and home-school those white kids currently being educated in our failing grades, American public schools.
Women, in particular, would see our lives changed dramatically, if Trump is re-elected.
So Charlemagne and Tlaib can flex their power — and they have it — a lot of power is theirs. But the desire of young people to have an American government more like Scandinavia by running out the Democrats is a joke, frankly. Trump and MAGA Republicans do not embrace democratic socialism.
The question is, what does it mean when Bella Hadid now flexes ‘raw fashion power?’
Is it just a gimmick comment?
I have no idea, but take seriously Bella’s very direct and confrontational image above — on the black and white cover — and view it with immense R-E-S-P-E-C-T for her views and influence.
AOC has never divorced fashion from the larger culture. If Bella is determined to flex her ‘raw power’, that can go multiple directions.
‘Raw power’ is not a word game in today’s world.
Anne would say the same words to Charlemagne with R-E-S-P-E-C-T. How to handle this ‘don’t vote in 2024’ trend that is rising among our young Americans puts a nail in the coffin of liberal democracy in America.
Will Bella, Tlaib, Kanye and Charlemagne face off against Taylor Swift, Pharrell, Beyoncé and Jay-Z? Perhaps we need a new kind of presidential debate. As a champion debater myself, I would LOVE to hear debates among these influential leaders. They could be podcast debates.
V-Magazine, where are you?? We need a new kind of voter information drive in 2024. Your fab voter drive in 2020 will not cut it in 2024. ~ Anne
