Punk Glamour Runs Wild and Glorious in Moschino Fall 2023 Campaign by Marcus Mam

Punk glamour has emerged as a strong trend in fall forward fashion. Among high-end luxury brands, we can call it ‘the Schiaparelli effect”.

For fall 2023 Moschino [IG] presses the style envelope with true grit glamour that teeters on the edge of elegance. Model Sherry Shi supports that style message in Moschino’s fall 2023 ad campaign.

Former creative director Jeremy Scott chooses wildly rebellious hair by Paul Hanlon to define the ad campaign’s subversive message. A lavish use of fishnet stockings, fishnet sleeves and camis signal that Shi is ready to overthrow the fashion system at any moment.

Relax everyone. This Moschino woman just loves being a provocateur. And Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele knows how to style the look, so that it becomes French bourgeois to the max. And the bejeweled stilettos are so irresistable, they could carry the Chanel name and certainly Schiaparelli.

Makeup artist Kabuki creates a pale intermezzo face without all the smudgy, dark effects typically associated with punk style. This decision keeps our focus on the fabulous fashion with just enough irreverence.

Photographer Marcus Mam [IG] captures every detail of Moschino abundance, and there is plenty for a brand ready for its next chapter.

Davide Renne Arrives

Moschino’s new creative director Davide Renne arrives at Moschino on November 1 with 20 years at Gucci in his resume.

In his new role, @daviderenne - who has designed women’s collections for two decades at Gucci, eventually as Head Designer of Womenswear - will oversee women’s, men’s and accessories for the Moschino main line, reporting to Massimo Ferretti, Executive Chairman of Aeffe SpA.

Renne responded to his appointment, saying:

“Franco Moschino had a nickname for his design studio: la sala giochi - the playroom. This resonates deeply with me: what fashion - Italian fashion especially, and the House of Moschino most of all, can achieve with its enormous power, should be accomplished with a sense of play, of joy. A sense of discovery, and experimentation” says Davide Renne. “I am very conscious of the honor that Mr. Ferretti - a gentleman who has been almost fatherly in his ability to listen and establish a dialogue during our encounters - has bestowed upon me in taking charge of the House founded by one of fashion's great minds. So, thank you Mr. Ferretti for giving me the keys to your playroom. I can't wait to begin - we’ll have fun. Together”.

This decision by Aeffe SpA could be a very wise one. With so much experience working as Head Designer of Womenswear at Gucci, Moschino can work with Davide Renne to position the brand as a refuge for all the wit and whimsy lovers thrown overboard with the new Gucci. It makes sense to AOC, and the initial response from financial markets was positive.
