LEVI’S® x FACETASM Spring Summer 2020 Mutation Capsule Collection by
/Japanese brand FACETASM shares its Levi’s® x FACETASM Spring Summer 2020 Mutation capsule collection of 15 unisex indigo items. Designer and founder Hiromichi Ochiai adds FACETASM’s playfulness and innovative techniques to Levi’s® most iconic items – jeans, trucker jackets, western shirts, and graphic tees. The FACETASM x Levi’s SS20 capsule will release at select stockists, including pop-ups at Maxfield LA and MAC in San Francisco, in March.
As a designer, I’m very happy to do this collaboration with Levi’s®. At FACETASM, we are always fascinated by the history of design. Of course, Levi’s® has a long history with denim and it has been very inspiring to visit the headquarters’ archives in San Francisco. For me, it’s very valuable to start with something that has such a long tradition and try to innovate it in order to give it new value. Working together with the Levi’s® staff in San Francisco has been a great experience, they have a lot of knowledge and are super innovative when it comes to denim. Please enjoy this collaboration, a “mutation” of both history and innovation. – FACETASM designer Hiromichi Ochiai
As promised to readers, AOC has invested 30 minutes in validating any sustainability credentials around the denim collection before posting Levi’s® x FACETASM . We can’t find them but are hesitant to make any definitive statements, given Levi’s long-held concerns about denim production and its environmental impact.
Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) conducted the apparel industry’s first lifecycle assessment (LCA) study in 2007 to assess the entire lifecycle impact of a core set of products. The study focused primarily on the company’s U.S. operations and uncovered that the greatest water and energy impact was in two areas: cotton cultivation and consumer care.
