H&M Releases Billie Eilish Sustainable Collection, As Reverb Plans Singer's Eco-Friendly Tour
/Billie Eilish is kicking off 2020 with a brand-new fashion collection for H&M, at the same time her Instagram fans wonder if she’s transitioning to a more conservative look. Known for her signature neon greet roots, recent photos show the singer with only the tiniest hint of green in her hair. To put it mildly, green roots are definitely high maintenance and frankly dangerous to hair health.
The singer-songwriter’s new H&M Collection launches online and in stores worldwide as of January 2. Eilish isn’t the first music star to collab with H&M, but she is the first to advocate for the sustainable fabrics used in the collection.
Inspired by the 18-year-old star's signature style, the collection spans long, boxy t-shirts, hoodies, sweater dresses and joggers bearing her logos, as well as accessories such as beanies, bucket hats and socks. The color palette is largely cream, black and pale green, featuring splashes of neon green.
"Billie Eilish is obviously an inspiring artist, but also someone a lot of people around the world admire for her personal style and empowering way of expressing her values," said Emily Bjorkheim, H&M's Head of Design Divided, in a statement. "We want to enable her fans to step into her world and feel empowered to freely express their style as well."
If you shop the new collection in the Netherlands, your delivery may come by low carbon-footprint bicycle, where H&M is evaluating the potential success of this eco-friendly delivery service for other business regions.
In advance of her upcoming Where Do We Go world tour, Eilish is working with experts at Reverb about how to make the experience proactive for the environment and Earth-friendly. Reverb, in her own words, specializes in “the best and most healthy, green ways to do everything,” by educating and engaging musicians and their fans to promote environmental sustainability.
The singer will be traveling with a ‘Billie Eilish Eco-Village’, allowing fans to visit the eco-village and learn more about how to live more sustainably in our time of climate emergency. Here she shares a video made with Woody Harrelson. Billie begins, “our earth is warming up and our oceans are rising. We cannot let this happen on our watch.”
Our House Is on Fire
“Millions of people around the world are taking to the streets on a climate strike, demanding our leaders listen to the science and act,” she asserts, before encouraging her audience to do everything in their power to make a difference. For instance, “cutting out meat and dairy from your diet and reducing plastic use.” Both Billie and Woody also endorse Greenpeace and Fridays for Future, citing them as reliable sources of climate information and action.
