Billie Eilish Delivers Ballbreaker Blast to Billionaires at 2025 WSJ Innovators Awards

Billie Eilish [IG] made a classic Ballbreaker move at Wednesday's WSJ Magazine [IG] 2025 Innovator Awards, where Eilish was receiving the Music Innovator Award in New York City on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

In Billie’s case, the American songwriter and musician is only 5’3” tall and Anne doubts she was wearing stilettos. Correct. Billie was wearing gents braces, aka as sock garters and sock suspenders. Nice touch!

For her Ballbreaker scheme to work at deathcon level, the honoree knows there is at least one Billionaire present to receive the arrow reserved for him or her in the audience. The wealthier the Billionaire, the better. Eilish had platinum-level money in her sight with the best binoculars money can buy.

Remember that Ballbreakers may well own a gun and know how to use a gun, but they embrace and advocate for gun safety laws and would never carry an AR-15 to the grocery store. The best research binoculars in her budget are essential for deathcon-level Ballbreakers. It’s possible that Billie misplaced hers.

Ballbreaker Billie Eilish Let’s It Rip at WSJ Magazine 2025 Innovator Awards

In Billie’s case, her target was assumed to be Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. Also in attendance were baby billionaire George Lucas and his wife Melody Hobson, who won the Innovator Design award.

Of course, the Eilish comments have gone viral to billionaires everywhere.

There is an additional twist in the story, not reported by some media. Dr. Priscilla Chan received the Innovator award in Philanthropy for their jointly-donated Facebook shares then valued at $45 billion to their top-level Chan Zuckerberg initiative [CZI] and several spokes in the wheel institutes, such as the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub in San Francisco, the CZ Biohub NY, and the CZ Imaging Institute, each with a specific focus within the broader goal of preventing, curing, or managing all diseases.

Karlie Kloss was the presenter to Dr. Chan.

Media reporting the Chan Award state it in passing. AOC expects to find a more detailed challenge coming at CBS, now that Bari Weiss is installed as CBS News Editor-in-Chief. All is quiet right now over at WSJ, but Billie did leave herself wide open for a volley right back at her, given the Zuckerberg-Chan science-driven medical research initiative. We will share more details, but Anne is clear why Mark Zuckerberg sat stonefaced with her precise billionaire-blow arrow aimed in his direction.

The Charming Ballbreaker Rollout

When a Ballbreaker is in peak performance mode, she delivers a big slice of take-no-prisoners moxie with absolute charm and ‘je ne sais quois’ nonchalance.

Watch now if you haven’t already, as Ballbreaker Billie Eilish let it rip with flawless delivery. Audio-only is all that’s needed, but her body language in paragraph two is critical to understand AOC’s commentary. You will see it in action.

The Ballbreaker Windup

WSJ has edited Billie’s podium statement down to one paragraph of two. We share the first paragraph setup.

“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country,” Eilish told the star-studded audience. “I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.”

Billionaires wouldn’t be squirming in their seats with paragraph one. They expect speeches like Billie’s and many are deeply committed to philanthropy that changes lives.

And then Billie delivered the second paragraph with a 10-stars rating.

“Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”

Eilish Has Artistic License at 5’3” Tall

Billie’s Ballbreaker voice is filled with a bit of hesitation — as if she is choosing her words carefully, so as not to offend the Billionaires. And then, with an “Oh shucks, I’ll say it” metaphorical shrug of her shoulders that is perfectly-timed, the award-winning Ballbreaker let’s it rip.

Michael Bloomberg was not present. AOC brings up Bloomberg after hearing Billie’s “no hate” final moment when her arrow plunges metaphorically into Mark Zucherberg’s and Cheryl Chan’s hearts.

At 5’8” plus heels, Anne wouldn’t ever pull off this closing maneuver: Every Ballbreaker understands her own weapons and only a ‘shortie’ can send this arrow without destroying her donor base: “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”

About Michael Bloomberg . . .

To be clear, Anne regularly donates to and supports Michael Bloomberg’s projects. This adds a layer of complexity to her life, but facts matter on AOC.

Reality is that Jane Fonda also gushes over Michael Bloomberg. Don’t scream. Anne will try to explain in full what Jane Fonda and his massive girl squad know about the man.

In addition, many pundits argue that the world’s most successful men like Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Mike Bloomberg, Jensen Huang, Eric Yuan and more support the theory that short men have more to prove — and often do just that. Meanwhile, Jane Fonda gives Golden Goose some love.

Mirroring Jane Fonda Is Very Different for Aspiring Ballbreakers

Older women Ballbreakers have lost the podium surprise factor. Ideally, they have retained their ability to be charming and not bitter, when taking an arrow out of their quivers. But there is always tension in the room.

Aging Ballbreakers like Jane Fonda are super stars in action, when not in the street protesting. And they carry the admiration of young Ballbreakers still on training wheels. PS: Jane Fonda would have known about the $45 billion endowment of CZI and shot a more all-encompassing arrow from her bow into the audience.

Jane Fonda is another story. Let’s give the entire limelight to Billie Eilish. Note that to be highly effective at every age, older Ballbreakers know how to share the room and cultivate their younger generations replacements. ~ Anne
