It’s routine now for AOC to check the sustainability credentials of jewelers featured in our pages. Vivara is the largest jewelry in Brazil, and Gisele Bundchen (IG) is one of the most prominent eco-warriors in the world, and particularly in her home country of Brazil. Together, they make sweet music for stones lovers.

Vivara has posted their sustainability policy online. Vivara has an application pending with the Responsible Jewellery Council, with a target certification date of September 2021.

AOC is not an expert in any way on sustainability practices among luxury jewelers. We note that the Vivara sustainability policy is very general and lacking in any specificity around goals or expected dates of achieving them.

In the case of Ashley Graham, confidence is her brand. In the latest episode of Fast Company’s podcast Creative Conversation, the body-positive model, entrepreneur and host of her own podcast ‘Pretty Big Deal’, explains that “it took her completely losing her confidence to build it back up to where it is now.”

“There were a lot of things, just in my confidence, that I wouldn’t have had to deal with so soon if it weren’t for modeling,” says Graham, who began her career at age 12. “Like, I’m too fat to get a job. Or I’m not pretty enough to book that cover. Or you’re just not an interesting enough person, period. So as much confidence as the industry and the business has given me, it started off with a lack of it that I wasn’t prepared for. And a label shoved into a box of just being called plus-size, nothing more, nothing less.”

In this episode of Creative Conversation, Graham shares how she learned to become her biggest advocate and is devoted to figuring out what she wants to say “now that she’s found her voice”.

Ashley Graham recently dropped into AOC via Vogue Italia, dressed in Fendi and bringing a new curvy woman crew with her that included Alva Claire, Jill Kortleve and Paloma Elsesser.

Did Michaela Coel's Jigsaw Puzzle Obsession Birth An Abuse Catharsis for FKA Twigs?

Did Michaela Coel's Jigsaw Puzzle Obsession Birth An Abuse Catharsis for FKA twigs?

Everywhere woman Michaela Coel was among the stars to covers the November 2020 Innovators Issue of WSJ Magazine. Coel won the coveted annual cover for her work in Television. Lynsey Moore styled Coel in elegant woman looks lensed by Tyler Mitchell./ Hair by Cyndia Jarvey; makeup by Ammy Drammeh

Clover Hope wrote the interview, with a Michaela Coel storyline well covered on AOC. One data point got our attention, however.

The ‘I May Destroy You’ star became totally obsessed with jigsaw puzzles during her summer lockdown. Having finished five 500-piece puzzles and purchased equipment including a lamp and roll-up mat to preserve her work, Coel recruited friends to join her.

The “coterie of puzzlers” were known to work their jigsaws until 2am in Coel’s East London apartment, simultaneously watching episodes of ‘I May Destroy You’.

“During a summer of stress amid a worldwide pandemic, a show about sexual assault was somehow comforting, in part because it proved the infinite possibilities of simply surviving,” wrote Hope. The story of one close friend — FKA Twigs — stands out, in particular.
