Nick Knight's Givenchy FW 2022 Campaign with Ethel Cain, Playboi Carti, Liya and Vittoria

Givenchy FW 2022 Campaign
Master photographer Nick Knight [IG] is behind the lens, capturing both still images and video for the Givenchy FW 2022 campaign, jointly conceived with Creative Director Matthew M. Williams.
Top models Liya Kebede and Vittoria Ceretti are joined by musician Ethel Cain and rapper Playboi Carti in images inspired by literature and imbued with a surreal undercurrent.
“The faces in this season’s campaign really represent what Givenchy means today,” said Williams. “It’s a uniquely eclectic group: each model is an icon in their own right”
Duality At Its Best
The 2-minute video underscores AOC’s use of the word ‘master’ next to Nick Knight, who is also sharing now his first NFTs on his IG.
The film exists in its own, dualistic identity that is:
old world and 21st century modern
brainiac intellectual while also floating as a complete sensory immersion not grounded in thinking;
private with its bedroom locations while seeming to float in the universe-at-large.
Bottom line, the film is fantastic in its sophisticated smarts and deep feeling of universality and ubuntu mindset.
Liya Kebede drifts in a total immersion in hard-edged jewelry that become softly sensual in Nick Knight’s film. Fully doused in the beads in the film, the mood is liberating and not at all suffocating.
Playboi Carti enters the pink-hued sensual world of bedrooms. The rapper leaves his often vampire-inspired persona at the door of Nick Knight’s surreal, sensual and non-threatening, universal world of the Givenchy Fall 2022 campaign.
NPR reviewed Ethel Cain’s first album ‘Preacher’s Daughter’ in late May, 2022 with the headline: “In Ethel Cain’s music, hell is a place on Earth.” Nick Knight and Givenchy’s FW 2022 campaign transports Cain to an intimate refuge devoid of the bigotry and hate that can consume our daily lives with unyielding bombardment.
Vittoria Ceretti closes out the Givenchy FW 2022 campaign images with shades that offer refuge from the daily confrontations of an increasingly volatile, hate-infused world.
In a campaign that unintentionally [or not] channels John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’, this is the sound in AOC’s brain after drifting ourselves in the refuge created by Nick Knight, Matthew M. Williams, and the Givenchy brand in this glorious Givenchy FW2022 campaign and spectacular video.
Having just pushed the button on a new Apple MacBook Pro, 16.1” top of the line loaded and arriving Friday, there is zero doubt that the first action I will take after booting it up in a state of total ecstasy, is to travel back into Nick Knight’s FW2022 Givenchy campaign video for a second immersion in this new world. ~ Anne
