Advertorials used to be pedestrian compared to top media fashion story presentations. Today, I see the same names popping up in recent AOC postings of creatives and producers teaming up with brands to deliver artistry that towers over other fashion media.
Sports brand Fila showcases Hailey Bieber in a new global campaign that gives “the model and entrepreneur a canvas to express her unique sense of style, while utilising some of the brand’s iconic designs”.
“Hailey has an enviable and often imitated street style, and she has quickly emerged as a fashion icon for this generation,” adds FILA’s Global Chairman Gene Yoon. “As a brand, we have always celebrated individuality and a willingness to take chances in design. Hailey is fearless with her fashion choices, with a versatility, authenticity and originality in the expression of her style. FILA has organically become part of Hailey’s closet and it was a natural fit to work together on this new campaign.”
Model Anna Mila Guyenz is styled by Francesca Rinciari in a Barbiecore fashion feast, lensed by Javier Biosva [IG], that plays directly into the highly-anticipated Barbie film, scheduled for release July 21, 2023. This reality check locks down the style supposition that pink passion has not yet peaked.
Advanced prisons have pink rooms and it’s at least rumoured that some football teams have painted the opposing team’s guest locker rooms pink. All roads lead to Iow’s Kinnick Stadium on this topic. Beware that the original pink prisons research has not been duplicated. The BBC drilled down deeply on this connection between color and brain activity last July.
London-based photographer Ekua King [IG] uses her degree in fashion photography at the London College of Fashion to create what she calls “portraiture with elements of fashion”. She uses her Jamaican heritage, fashion-trained eye and camera lens to change the narrative around Black people, creating imagery that breaks down social barriers.
King speaks fondly on IG about her new shoot for ELLE UK October 2022 issue, featuring rising South Sudanese model Angair Biong. Shortly after her uni graduation, King rang ELLE magazine in London, where she was placed in an internship. These pink passion, vibrantly-beautiful images of Biong represent King’s second main fashion story for the magazine.
We Cannot Be Silent About Kanye West’s Anti-Semitism
Ari Emanuel is one of the Jews Kanye was wailing about yesterday in his grievance-centered, interview with Chris Cuomo.
Emanuel has called upon companies like Apple and Spotify, like Adidas who is currently reviewing their contractual relationship with West and other business partners who raise revenue off of Kanye West, to suspend their relationships.
“West is not just any person — he is a pop culture icon with millions of fans around the world,” Emanuel wrote in an op-ed for The Financial Times. “And among them are young people whose views are still being formed. This is why it is necessary for all of us to speak out. Hatred and anti-Semitism should have no place in our society, no matter how much money is at stake.”
Model Margherita Roversi is styled by Gaia Fraschini in ‘Frames’, a major luxury brands fall accessory presentation lensed by Alberto Zanetti for Vanity Fair Italia September 2022.
The Fall 2022 campaign with models Mica Arganaraz and Sam Mallos, shot by photographer Henrik Purienne in Palm Springs, CA was described by the Etro family creatives as “our road to nowhere towards faraway worlds, sun-drenched as far as the eye can see, strong in the nomadic and curious spirit that has always pushed us forward, because it is never the destination that counts, but the journey itself”.
There’s a rich taspestry of Italian DNA roots at play in Etro in this moment, even if the brand is now majority-owned by LVMH-backed L Catterton. So goodbye to the Etro family and hello to Marco de Vincenzo.
Given the times we are living in and the storied history of the Etro brand, including the legendary timing of its birth [and a quick Google search] give that brand DNA a big hug. Note that I’ve also learned that brands have made conscious efforts to wipe Google clean of certain aspects of their history.
But you, dearest Etro with your magic-carpet ride, global-nomad, people-loving history, you have riches in 2022. Honor them, because you look good to go, Etro.
Model Lucan Gillespie makes a vivid impression, styled by Aurelia Donaldson in passion ‘Red & Pink’. Coats, suitings, jackets, sweaters — no fashion item is left untouched by sensual passion and desire to own. Killer red boots and red tights with magenta kitten heels — the Cardinals of Rome will be in a fashion fury, ready to pounce.
How dare defiant, ambitious feminists raid Roman wardrobes of authority! Lock them up! And take away those ungodly sashes. What sacrilege! Laurie Bartley [IG] is behind the lens, hatching this subversive fashion story for ELLE Taiwan October 2022./ Makeup by Joey Choy; hair by Ken O’Rourke

Exhibition: Photographer Campbell Addy has beautiful work on view in London until November 6, 2022 at 180 The Strand. The art show Major — New School celebrates the community and collabortators attached to this VERY interesting London destination. Models Alaato Jazyper and Puck Schrover are styled by James Valeri in true-grit glamour and plenty of edge. Photographer Estelle Hanania [IG] is in the studio for D Repubblica Magazine’s September 12, 2022 issue.
Grandeur and opulence with an imperial vibe arrives in the November 2022 pages of British Vogue [and Vogue Global] as a fashion story ‘Treasure Island’. Top model Grace Elizabeth is styled by BV’s fashion director Julia Sarr-Jamois in images by Angelo Pennetta [IG]./ Hair by Jordan Robertson; makeup by Jenna Kuchera
Sarr-Jamois’ south London apartment was featured in Vogue UK online in June 2022. She was born in London, daughter of a French ‘mum’ and a Senegalese father.
The talented stylist spoke to issues of racism in the days after the murder of George Floyd — a crime that Kanye West [legally known as Ye and shortly the owner of right-wing social media site Parler] now denies even happened.
Without naming her client, Bella did ruminate in a recent interview on the contained backlash she received this year about her new role as the Swarovski ambassador.
Bella’s pro-Palestinian, perceived as anti-Israeli posts on IG, created pushback by some Israeli jewelry stores and dealers against Swarovski.
Last week, Bella Hadid did not specifically call out Kanye West, but she noted on Instagram that it would be a “disservice” to herself and her loved ones if she did not “speak up.” She went on to specifically condemn antisemitism and the “things” that have been shared about it recently on “public platforms”.
“To allow any form of antisemitism to slip by, as desensitized as the world has become, it would be a disservice to my friends, the families I have grown up with, the people I love and work with, myself, and even the Palestinian cause as a whole,” she wrote.
She then emphasised that her Palestinian community does not stand for “hatred or violence,” adding that anti-Semitic social media posts “will never be okay”.
Top model Grace Elizabeth pursues a fantastical state of mind with an eclectic dissonance prompting notes of fashionable absurdity, styled by Anastasia Barbieri.
Solve Sundsbo [IG] captures avant-garde designs in the collections of Gucci, Moschino, Prada, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Vivienne Westwood and more for ‘Enter the Twilight Zone’ in V Magazine #138 Fall 2022.
AOC shares ‘Born to Rewild’ with model Heather Kemesky, who channels the spirit of Fay Godwin, photographed by Josh Shinner [IG].
“This story was based on one of my favourite photographers, the often (and sadly) overlooked Fay Godwin. She was an incredible woman, stomping around the Scottish Highlands in her big coats and thick jumpers with her tripod and Hasselblad, taking landscape pictures that are every bit as brilliant as those of Ansel Adams and co. I urge you to take a trip down a discovery wormhole this weekend…”
Seoul photographer Cho Gi-Seok [IG] produces ‘Wind, Fields, Cliffs and Waves. And HoYeon Jung.’ a beautiful fashion story starring ‘Squid Game’ star and Louis Vuitton ambassador since October 2021 HoYeon Jung. Kihoh Sohn and Eunji Shin style the star for Vogue Korea October 2022.
Top model and Tropic of C businesswoman Candice Swanepoel covers Love Want Magazine 26, wearing quiet revelation Chanel elegance. Carolina Orrico styles Candice in sensual modernism in black and nude with hits of red and white, lensed by Paola Kudacki [IG].
Update: On her IG tonight, Candice pulled out her cover shot for a sizzling fashion story with Joan Smalls, published in Lui Magazine, 2015. AOC went into the archives to share the full editorial with fans. If sensual, beautiful women are your pleasure, these images of Candice and Joan by Luigi & Iango are scalding.
