The history of cosmetics spans at least 6000 years and touches almost every society on earth. According to Wiki, significant use of cosmetics dates to ancient Egypt and Greece. Castor oil was used in ancient Egypt as a protective balm, along with skin creams made of beeswax, olive oil and rosewater — according to the Romans. Cosmetics are mentioned in the Old testament, where Jezebel painted her eyelids in approximately 840 BC. Beauty treatments are also found in the book of Esther.

In this brief beauty statement from Vogue Netherlands, Nicole Hofman is lensed by Gerrit Schreurs with styling by Martien Meliema and Karen Van Ede.
