Lea T | I'll Always Be In The Middle -- Not Man or Woman

RoseTracker| I felt sad just now, posting new images in transsexual Givenchy model Lea T’s beautifully provocative and statement-making fashion editorial, lensed by Carlotta Manaigo for LURVE Magazine.

We’ve covered Lea T’s personal journey and willingness to talk about her sexuality from the beginning. As she evolves physically from a male body into a female one, I hoped that this transformation would bring her the gender identity self-image that she seeks.

Will Lea T tell Oprah what she said in a recent interview with Brazil’s Quem magazine, via Racked?

“Even with surgery, I’ll never be a woman. And I will not be man. I’ll always be the middle… My father said I’ll always be his little black boy. That he’ll love me if I am man, woman or dog. My mother is very religious. She refuses, but says she will not leave me.”

Seeing Lea T’s veiled face in LURVE, as well as her gagged mouth, and then reading that her mother’s religious convictions cause her to withdraw from Lea T, but not disown her, I couldn’t help thinking of my own editorial quoting scriptures about women’s bodies.

We all live with this physical self-hatred in one way or another, and perhaps Lea T is an example of our collective international desire to fight back against the authorities who are the condemners.

It disgusts me to read Fox columnist Dan Gainor’s obsession with looking through lace panties in search of pubic hair. Perhaps he needs counseling like that joke of a man George Rekers, who has devoted his life to condemning homosexuality and adoption, and then heads off to the south of France with his boy toy.

There is plenty of immorality to go around in God’s global boys club. They should leave women alone.

Both George Rekers and Dan Gainor would be the first people to condemn Lea T, with me not far behind. Frankly, we are sick of men’s preoccupation with female genitalia, whether it’s from Penthouse or FOX News.

Let us hope that there is a time when Lea T feels like a whole person and not ‘in the middle’. Each one of God’s children deserves this chance, and not only the ones deemed worthy by the so-called moral majority. Anne
