NYTimes writer Cathy Horyn’s new style piece on sex and fashion is off the mark, in suggesting that drifting for creative and quality inputs, fashion inevitably turns to sex.
This is true, but Horyn should dig outside her fashion sandbox for a more nuanced understanding of the trends.
We believe that human sexuality is in a transitional phase, fueled not only by the negative aspects of Internet culture, but by an international opportunity led by creatives to ‘join hands’ and push forward for a broader discussion of sexuality, sex identification and gender.
Where we’re going, I’m not certain but to dismiss the evolving landscape as ‘just fashion’ is not right. Anne
