Dots| The NYTimes brings us up to date on Scents That Sold in 2010. Anne hasn’t even smelled Gucci Guilty, but she’s in love with the name and the marketing. Chanel’s Chance Eau Tendre is the other women’s contender for top spot.

Reinforcing a Smart Sensuality woman’s trend, Bettina O’Neill, the vice president for cosmetics and fragrances at Barneys New York, says that many women are looking for individuality in their fragrances.

“People are more educated, and women especially don’t want to smell like everyone else,” she said. The women’s scents at Barneys that did well over the holidays included Byredo Parfums’ M/Mink ($195 for 100 milliliters), which has notes of patchouli leaf, clover honey and dark amber.

We featured perhaps eight fragrances all year on two websites and hit the two of three top winners. When we write that our material is curated, we’re not kidding.
