Barbie Movie Is Like a Lobster Roll
When Margot Robbie showed up for the Vogue Australia interview in Sydney — pre-labor strike — she was wearing pink one of three Versace pink outfits on her Barbi runway bingo card that day.
For her part, Barbi director Greta Gerwig was also wearing a “perfectly pink” blazer and eating a lobster roll. Pandemonium broke out:
Barbie is “seriously fun”, as Gerwig puts it. “It’s dessert,” suggests Robbie, “but so much more than dessert.” Gerwig pipes in: “It’s a steak ice-cream sandwich!” Robbie adds: “It’s a feast of all your favourite things!” Gerwig’s face lights up. The eureka moment is before her. “It’s a lobster roll!” Robbie yelps with delight. “It’s a lobster roll!” Some ways that Barbie is like a lobster roll: “It’s cheeky,” per Robbie. “It’s a naughty thing,” per Gerwig. “It’s expensive,” also per Gerwig. “It’s pink,” per me. “It is a lobster roll,” Gerwig concludes, satisfied. “That’s such a good metaphor for the movie.”
The self-depracating Robbie described their first meeting: “I was like, ‘Oh, she’s queen of the indie scene and I’m just like a Colgate toothpaste model.”
This episode of Margot Robbie self-doubt was probably connected to one of the most sexist interviews conducted in recent years by a male writer who fell into the pit of “she has absolutely no talent, but she’s damn f*ckable.”
AOC was among the websites who rained digital hail stones over the smug writer’s sexist head. Funny, that his Wiki page doesn’t mention the fiasco.
To be clear, the dude cleaned up his act after that epic episode — probably never writing about an accomplished woman again. Never underestimate hot women with brains.

The box office is in, according to The Hollywood Reporter — the fourth biggest three-day weekend of all time domestically with ‘Barbie’ at $155M and ‘Oppenheimer’ at a stunning ‘$80.5M for a historical, documentary type film.
Greta Gerwig has taken the biggest domestic weekend by a female director. And the international box office is also very good. After ‘The Little Mermaid’ box office falter, many people were very nervous.
