Louis Vuitton Muse Jennifer Connelly Is A High-Minded Human in SS-2026 Campaign
/Louis Vuitton [IG] creative director Nicolas Ghesquière releases the first phase of LV’s Spring/Summer 2026 Campaign. Actor Jennifer Connelly’s ambassador role with Louis Vuitton is more than a decade old, making her the longest-serving muse to the designer.
Cass Bird [IG], shot the campaign with refuge in mind. Ghesquière channeled that theme for the collection’s runway show last fall. "The atmosphere I was wishing to share was the serenity you feel when you are in the comfort of your home," the designer shared in press notes about the collection unveiled at the Louvre Museum. The easy elegance blended beautifully in the recently restored rooms that were once the summer apartments of Anne of Austria, Queen of France from 1615 to 1643.
"It's fun to dress up at home, too," he said -- which for Vuitton's VICs could mean summers aboard a Feadship yacht and winters at a chalet in Megève.”
Nicolas Ghesquière spends considerable time at home in Los Angeles, his own ‘private sphere’ for experiencing the California lifestyle. Anne has been thinking deeply about the luxury business in recent days, triggered by the abrupt departure of former Miu Miu CEO Benedetta Petruzzo from Dior, after only 15 months at the House.
Tomorrow, Saturday Jan.16th, she starts her new job as CEO of International Business at ALO Yoga, with new executive offices in Beverly Hills on Wilshire Blvd.
Petruzzo was very discreet about her short tenure at Dior, but I was impacted by her discussion of personal values being a big part of her decision to depart. This Louis Vuitton campaign and the clothes channel her own words around life priorities and the ALO brand, which is so very impressive the more I study it.
"In our conversation, I was impressed by the pureness and authenticity of the idea behind this company," said Petruzzo.
"I wasn't actively looking for a new job, and this wasn't a case of an analytic choice. Even though I'm a person of numbers, I take the most important decisions with the heart and the guts. There was a strong connection I didn't wanted to ignore, maybe because I'm turning 40 and I want to be more and more intentional in what I do. I believe in the identity of this brand and what it stands for."
I actually asked myself what a woman of financial means, deeply-invested in Alo’s wellness-directed lifestyle would wear in the rest of her life. We’re looking at the answer with this Louis Vuitton campaign, but more importantly the campaign’s atmosphere is hitting all the high notes.
We’re living in very complex times right now. I love Jennifer Connelly sitting on a pile of books, but the state of Texas just banned teaching Plato at any college or university receiving state funds. Yes, Plato!!!!
European military units are arriving in Greenland, to send a clear message to Trump that he needs to stand down with his threat to just take Greenland, because the US needs it. A Congressional delegation of 10 senators and representatives — including Republicans — is in Greenland today, trying to calm the waters.
We may be embarking on a time for choosing; and I’ll end on that note. Except I will also refresh our memories with some key pieces from the Louis Vuitton SS2026 runway show. Nicolas Ghesquière has quietly tapped into what the founders of ALO believe is the zeitgeist of luxury moving forward.
For myself trying to make sense of some very dramatic changes at AOC, I spent a couple hours probing AI for an understanding of what humanism — or New Humanism as I call it, 1000 years later — means in China and specifically in Beijing.
Not knowing what to expect, the responses were unusually encouraging and rich in ideas of substance.
