The title of photographer Ellen von Unwerth’s [IG] fashion story is a bit ambitious: The Royal Garden that Might Save the Planet. The reference is to Louis XIV’s kitchen garden, the Potager du Roi, which is at the center of a $15 million global research initiative to study the preservation of historic gardens facing potential extinction in the face of climate change.

It was here that EVU and crew trooped into the Sun King’s 23-acre kitchen garden at Versailles to shoot this French fashion painting.
