Fresh Off JW Anderson Genius Collab, Moncler Acquires Stone Island

Long ago in late September 2020, Moncler Genius unveiled its latest collab with J.W. Anderson, starring models Craig Shimirimana and Jess Cole. Benjamin Bruno styled the colorful, playful story lensed by Tyler Mitchell (IG).

Monday’s Dec. 7 announcement that Moncler and Stone Island were joining forces in a €1.15 billion EUR (approximately $1.39 billion USD) financial transaction for 100 percent of Stone Island’s shares, created another opportunity to share the Moncler x JW Anderson images. Northern Irish designer JS Anderson was single-minded about his Moncler Genius approach, telling Vogue that he was waiting to be asked to engage.

‘I think puffer, to do it well, is one of the most difficult things to do so if you’re going to make it you should make it with the best.’ Best means ripstop nylon quilted with thermo-adhesive seals to create an elaborate pin-cushion pattern. Best means big bold scarves spiked with down studs. Best means boys and girls in frilled shorts and duck-printed gilets. Best is bright and buoyant and warm.”

Rising photographer Tyler Mitchell has worked with Anderson on other projects. For this artistic effort, Mitchell create a unique exhibition in a box for customers to take home and mount in their own homes.
