Disney Plus has announced an April 3 debut date for two new documentaries: ‘Dolphin Reef’, which has narration from Natalie Portman and ‘Elephant’, with narration by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

‘Dolphin Reef’

‘Dolphin Reef’ follows the life of Echo, a bottlenose young male dolphin in the Pacific, who navigates the underworld and is directed by Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey.

“At three years old, Echo has relied solely on his mother, Kumu, to feed and protect him. Now he’s weaned off mother’s milk and it’s time to catch his own meals and develop the essential skills needed to thrive in his underwater world. However, the teachings of his mother tend to go unnoticed by Echo, who’s distracted by more enjoyable pursuits,” writes Disney Media.

‘Elephant’

‘Elephant’, focuses on the African elephant Shani and her son Jomo as they move with a herd of elephants across hundreds of miles in the Kalahari Desert. The film is directed by Mark Linfield and co-directed by Vanessa Berlowitz and Alastair Fothergill.

“Led by their great matriarch, Gaia, the family faces brutal heat, dwindling resources and persistent predators, as they follow in their ancestor’s footsteps on a quest to reach a lush, green paradise,” says the news release.

Meghan recorded the voiceover for the film in London in autumn last year -- months before she and husband Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, stepped back from royal duties.

The couple have been advocates for Elephants Without Borders and the conservation of animals, particularly in Africa. Meghan and Harry first got away together in Botswana. Harry, in particular, has expressed feelings of release and freedom in Africa. Separately, Meghan met elephant conservation activist Mike Chase in Botswana.
