Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, professor of psychology at Palo Alto University and a research psychologist at the Stanford University School of Medicine, made a surprise and rare public appearance Sunday night at an event with the ACLU of Southern California in Beverly Hills.

Ford, who famously accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of having sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers, accepted the Rodger Baldwin Courage Award, saying that she had a responsibility to the nation to speak out about the alleged assault during a small party of teenagers in suburban Maryland in 1982. Ford explained that her knowledge of Anita Hill’s testimony against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas helped persuade her that she must step forward during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings.

"When I came forward last September, I did not feel courageous. I was simply doing my duty as a citizen," she said. “I was simply doing my duty as a citizen, providing information to the Senate that I believed would be relevant to the Supreme Court nomination process. I thought anyone in my position, of course, would do the same thing.”

Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh has kept a low profile since his confirmation, rarely appearing in public. The judge addressed the Federalist Society, a conservative legal foundation, in Washington DC on Friday November 15. Kavanaugh was greeted by protesters dressed as the reproductive slaves in the dystopian novel "The Handmaid's Tale" while Ford's Senate testimony was played on a large video screen outside the venue.

NYU Hires Law Firm to Investigate Behavior of {Michael H} Steinhardt, a Prominent Donor

NYU Hires Law Firm to Investigate Behavior of {Michael H} Steinhardt, a Prominent Donor

NYU said on Monday that it had hired a prominent law firm to investigate whether the namesake of its school of education, Michael H. Steinhardt, had engaged in inappropriate conduct with students, faculty or staff.

The review will be headed by Joan McPhee, a lawyer who last year helped lead an investigation of Lawrence G. Nassar, a USA Gymnastics team doctor who last year was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison for sexually abusing young women. McPhee was hired by NYU as part of its response to a New York Times-ProPublica article that alleged a pattern of crude and demeaning sexual comments by Steinhardt toward women over decades.

Steinhardt, a hedge fund pioneer and philanthropist, denied many of the specifics of the allegations, saying that his behavior was always meant in jest, and never involved physical contact.

Harvard Won't Renew Prof Ronald Sullivan Jr. + Stephanie Robinson As Faculty Deans of Winthrop House

Harvard Won't Renew Prof Ronald Sullivan Jr. + Stephanie Robinson As Faculty Deans of Winthrop House

Harvard announced on Saturday that Ronald Sullivan Jr. and his wife Stephanie Robinson, who is a lecturer at the law school, would no longer continue as faclty deans of Winthrop House, one of Harvard’s residential houses for undergrad students. In 2009, the couple became the first African American faculty deans in Harvard’s history.

The decision not to renew the appointments of Mr. Sullivan and Ms. Robinson as faculty deans won’t impact their positions at the law school, where Mr. Sullivan is the Jesse Climenko Clinical Professor of Law and the director of the Criminal Justice Institute.

Exactly what moral and ethical point Prof Sullivan is making -- putting Weinstein first -- is obviously an important one to him. But the message he send to his young students under his mentorship is one they justifiably rejected in significant numers.

Those students were led by Harvard student Danu Mudannayake, 21 years old, and a visual and environmental studies student in film production at Harvard College.

Michael Steinhardt, a Leader in Jewish Philanthropy, Is Accused of a Pattern of Sexual Harassment

By Hannah Dreyfus for ProPublica and Sharon Otterman, The New York Times

Sheila Katz was a young executive at Hillel International, the Jewish college outreach organization, when she was sent to visit the philanthropist Michael H. Steinhardt, a New York billionaire. He had once been a major donor, and her goal was to persuade him to increase his support. But in their first encounter, he asked her repeatedly if she wanted to have sex with him, she said.

Deborah Mohile Goldberg worked for Birthright Israel, a nonprofit co-founded by Steinhardt, when he asked her if she and a female colleague would like to join him in a threesome, she said.

Natalie Goldfein, an officer at a small nonprofit that Steinhardt had helped establish, said he suggested in a meeting that they have babies together.

Steinhardt, 78, a retired hedge fund founder, is among an elite cadre of donors who bankroll some of the country’s most prestigious Jewish nonprofits. His foundations have given at least $127 million to charitable causes since 2003, public filings show.

But for more than two decades, that generosity has come at a price. Six women said in interviews with The New York Times and ProPublica, and one said in a lawsuit, that Steinhardt asked them to have sex with him, or made sexual requests of them, while they were relying on or seeking his support. He also regularly made comments to women about their bodies and their fertility, according to the seven women and 16 other people who said they were present when Steinhardt made such comments.

Manhattan Judge Rules That Harvey Weinstein Case Will Proceed To March 7 Pre-Trial Hearing

Manhattan Judge Rules That Harvey Weinstein Case Will Proceed To March 7 Pre-Trial Hearing

Disgraced Hollywood media mogul Harvey Weinstein, a key catalyst behind the widely-revived #MeToo movement, will be going to trial. On Thursday Judge James Burke rejected Weinstein’s legal request to dismiss the remaining five counts of sexual misconduct and rape charged by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. The case is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on March 7. The judge previously dismissed one of the initial sex counts involving allegations by Lucia Evans.

Vanity Fair writes that the courtroom was packed with reporters and supporters of the Time’s Up movement. Actors Marisa Tomei, Kathy Najimy, and Amber Tamblyn joined Time’s Up President and CEO Lisa Borders, who said that she was “relieved that Harvey Weinstein failed” in his efforts to have the charges dismissed.

The case remains complicated, especially after the dismissal of one count against Weinstein. With the case proceeding, Judge Burke’s rulings around evidence will heavily influence the case.

Attorney Alan Dershowitz, who was brought on by Weinstein’s lead attorney Ben Brafman as a consultant, says defense emails contradict claims that the sexual encounters were forced.

Eye: Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment Buys Out Sir Philip Green's 50% Stake In Ivy Park Amid #MeToo Claims

Earlier this week, Ivy Park, the sporty brand owned by Beyonce and Sir Philip Green, the chairman of the conglomerate of Arcadia, that owns Topshop, released its Resort 2019 lookbook.

Behind the scenes, choppy waters threatened to capsize the business love boat, as Green was named as the man center stage in Britain’s newest high-profle #MeToo story. In spite of a court-ordered gag order, Lord Peter Hain, a member of Parliament, named Green in the House of Lords, saying felt it was his “duty under parliamentary privilege to name Philip Green as the individual in question given that the media have been subject to an injunction preventing publication of the full details of this story which is clearly in the public interest.” He also said the allegations were of a “serious and repeated” nature and he had them heard from someone “intimately involved in the case.” via The Cut.

The Telegraph has spent the past eight months investigating Green’s multiple accusations of sexual harassment, racially-based abuse, bullying, and misuse of non-disclosure agreements to hide his misdeeds.

Hours ago on Thursday Novembefr 15, Beyoncé’s Ivy Park became solely owned by her company Parkwood Entertainment, after she acquired Green’s 50 percent share of the label, launched with Green in 2016. The BBC reports have been that activists — including Equality Now — have been pressuring Beyoncé’s camp to divest from the partnership, pointing out her avowed allegiance to feminist principles.

“Beyoncé has put herself forward as a women’s rights activist. She and her team need to look closely at these allegations,” Equality Now’s Yasmeen Hassan told the BBC in October.

Another activist, Nimco Ali, said: "Beyoncé should say 'I don't want to work with Philip Green'."

November 1 Google Global Walkout Demands End To Sexual Harassment and Systemic Racism In 'Destructive' Corporate Culture

November 1 Google Global Walkout Demands End To Sexual Harassment and Systemic Racism In 'Destructive' Corporate Culture

At 11:10 am, Thursday morning November 1, thousands of Google employes worldwide stood up and walked out of their offices as participants in the Google Walkout. The global demonstration was triggered over their employer’s mishandling of sexual-misconduct allegations that surrounded Android creator Andy Rubin.

The Rubin case is not new. On October 25, the New York Times publishing a damning exposé that revealed Google had paid a shocking $90 million to Android creator Andy Rubin, who resigned in 2014 following a sexual-misconduct investigation. Per the report, Rubin “coerced [a female co-worker] into performing oral sex in a hotel room” in 2013 — allegations she reported a year later, which Google investigated and found credible.

Beyond the $90 million payout, Google’s then chief executive Larry Page celebrated Rubin’s career, without making public the reason for his departure. Page demanded Rubin’s resignation, after details of the situation between two Google execs was revealed. Rubin’s case is one of three high-profile Google executives accused of sexual misconduct charges.

Amy Schumer & Emily Ratajkowski Arrested Protesting Brett Kavanaugh Vote For Supreme Court

Amy Schumer and Emily Ratajkowski were arrested today, as protesters infiltrated the Hart Senate Office Building in DC, to rally against an affirmative vote on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Before entering the Senate Building, Schumer and Ratajkowski joined Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York to address crowds outside of the Supreme Court. Gillibrand told the crowd that the FBI had failed to seriously investigate the claims by Dr. Blasey-Ford that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her. "It was not intended to get to the bottom of this. It was not intended to find the truth. It was intended to be a cover, a cover for those who don't want to look at the truth," Gillibrand said.

Shortly after Gillibrand finished, Schumer and EmRata were arrested, writes Harper’s Bazaar. On Twitter, EmRata shared the experience along with a photo of her carrying a sign which read Respect Female Existence Or Expect Our Resistance. She wrote, "Today I was arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault. Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power."

Ousted CBS CEO Les Moonves Told Woman Doctor 20 Yrs Ago He Can't Control Sexual Urges

“He said that he had a terrible problem, that he basically couldn’t control himself when alone with a woman.”

Reading these words by ousted CBS CEO Les Moonves -- written in an apologetic note to a UCLA woman doctor he attacked, after she was requested to handle the VIP client at a 7am meeting -- I find them just staggering.

This man has overseen the careers of how many women at CBS -- to say nothing of Charlie Rose? Moonves was ousted today without a severance package, over Ronan Farrow's new article in which 6 new women including knowledge about the doctor came forward. The women were furious that CBS seemed to not be responding to the first claims against Moonves.

The women were also totally disgusted that Les Moonves was turning truth against the #MeToo movement, arguing that the sex was all consensual. Yet the words written to the woman doctor had to roll around in his brain some days.

This week I learned that Moonves tried to destroy Janet Jacson over the NFL nip slip, while dishing no pain to her partner in the accident Justin Timberlake.

Bashir Ali: CBS CEO Les Moonves Tried To Destroy Janet Jackson Over 2004 Super Bowl Nip Slip

In a script that sounds familiar in the world of Trump, Weinstein and Ailes, both supporters and critics of embattled Chairman and CEO of CBS agree that he has an enemies list and holds a grudge for a long, long time.

Huff Po's Yashar Ali hit a brick wall when setting out to talk with industry insiders about one target of Moonves' "ire and vengefulness" -- Miss Janet Jackson.  With Moonves tettering on being toppled at CBS over his own sexual harassment allegations and Jackson appearing in the October issue of October 2018, Ali walks readers through the history of a torrent of ferocity launched against Jackson after her infamous 'nip slip' incident at the 2004 Super Bowl.

#MeToo Leader Asia Argento Paid Her Own 17 Year-Old Accuser $380,000 For His Silence

I slept in this am, being just drained from work. I read yesterday about CNN making a documentary about the extraordinary human Anthony Bourdain, who committed suicide a few months ago. I miss him so much.

And now I wake up this morning to read that Bourdain's girlfriend Asia Argento, one of Harvey Weinstein's chief accusers of rape in 1997 and a leading figure in the #MeToo movement, quietly arranged to pay $380,000 for her own alleged assault against Jimmy Bennett when he was 17 and she 37.

The Blame Game: Taylor Swift Delivers Emotional Thank You; PA Condemns Over 300 Priests As Perpetrators Of Sexual Abuse

The Blame Game: Taylor Swift Delivers Emotional Thank You; PA Condemns Over 300 Priests As Perpetrators Of Sexual Abuse

It's a year ago that Taylor Swift won her sexual assault case against Colorado DJ David Mueller, who sued her for $3 million in damages after she claimed he placed his hand under her skirt and grabbed her butt hile posing for a photo. Swift filed a countersuit asking for a symbolic $1 in damages, which the jury awarded her in winning her case.

Swift addresed the issue during an emotional speech for her Tampa Reputation concert. Thanking her fans for their support while stressing the need for better justice for sexual assault victims, Taylor said: "I guess I just think about all the people that weren’t believed and people who haven’t been believed and the people who are afraid to speak up because they think they won’t be believed. And I just wanted to say that I’m sorry to anyone who ever wasn’t believed because I don’t know what turn my life would take if people didn’t believe me when I said that something had happened to me. And so I guess I just wanted to say that we have so, so, so much further to go, and I’m so grateful to you guys for being there for me during what was a really, really horrible part of my life." viaELLE US

The pop star's words ring so relevant this morning, with publication of "a searing report" about bishops and other leaders of the Roman Catholic Church in Pennsylvania covering up child sexual abuse by more than 300 priests over 70 years. The report covered six of the state's eight Catholic dioceses, identifying more tha 1,000 victims of sexual abuse at the hands of priests.

Anthony Bourdain: The World Has Lost A Bridge Uniting Us & Women Have Lost A Standup #MeToo Guy

This is the last article I read about Bourdain, published April 20 in The Daily Beast, and it was about #MeToo. Bourdain sounded stunned to learn first hand what women go though in life -- most women in every country in the world. His words grabbed my heart, because was such a stud muffin and I could see that this man of the world was very impacted to study the female perspective and his own role in advancing what he called "toxic masculinity". I'm not linking this evolution in thinking in any way to Bourdain's suicide. But I want to call out his most recent thinking and how supportive he was of #MeToo, telling Alec Baldwin specifically and men like him who attack #MeToo to just shut up.

As the tributes flood media, Vox details key quotes from a recent interview about #MeToo that Bourdain shared with Isaac Chotiner of Slate. A key quote"

I am a guy on TV who sexualizes food. Who uses bad language. Who thinks our discomfort, our squeamishness, fear and discomfort around matters sexual is funny. I have done stupid offensive shit. And because I was a guy in a guy’s world who had celebrated a system—I was very proud of the fact that I had endured that, that I found myself in this very old, very, frankly, phallocentric, very oppressive system and I was proud of myself for surviving it. And I celebrated that rather enthusiastically.

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is pictured by New York Magazine, arriving at a lower Manhattan police station early Friday, turning himself in to face a series of charges related to his aggressive sexual tactics with women.

Weinstein was immediately arrested, the NYPD confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter and then charged with rape, a criminal sex act, sex abuse, sex abuse and sexual misconduct for his behavior with two women. Arraignment will happen later today.

A statement released by the NYPD thanked "these brave survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice".

Marti Noxon Unleashes Female Fury In June 4 'Dietland' Debut On AMC | Aisha Tyler Will Host Companion Talk Show 'Unapologetic'

The Atlantic asks a key question, 50 years after women across America hit the streets, protesting in the second wave of an international women's movement: Is Television Ready for Angry Women?

Marti Noxon, 53, is not new to Hollywood or television. She has written, produced, and directed TV shows and films for more than two decades. Perhaps Hollywood has caught up with her and the voices in her head that propel her forward. In a Time's Up, post-Harvey Weinstein LA world of mostly white male popular culture

'Dietland' is one of two projects Marti Noxon has in her pipeline, and 'Sharp Objects' is the other.

When Noxon showed an early episode of 'Dietland' to a male friend, he was both impressed, and appalled at "how prescient it was". “Of course I didn’t.” Noxon responded. “But I’ve been alive.”

"The past two decades have seen an unparalleled explosion of creativity in TV, beginning with 'The Sopranos' and 'The Wire', running through 'Breaking Bad' and 'Mad Men', and ending up with the zillions of shows currently being made for streaming networks and premium cable", writes Sophie Gilbert . "In prestige TV, men could be adulterers, drug dealers, murderers, gangsters, even serial killers, and still be sympathetic anchors for popular dramas. But the same wasn’t true for women, until recently."

New York Atty General Eric Schneiderman (NOW RESIGNED) Accused By Four Women Of Staggering Physical & Violent Abuse

New York Atty General Eric Schneiderman Accused By Four Women Of Staggering Physical & Violent Abuse

In a staggering article written by Jane Mayer and Ronan Farrow for The New Yorker, an explosive report released Monday evening, Eric Schneiderman, the Attorney General of New York has been accused of nonconsensual physical violence by four women with whom has has had romantic relationships or encounters.

Two of the four women, Michelle Manning Barish and Tanya Selvaratnam, have talked to The New Yorker on the record, in order to protect other women.

"They allege that he repeatedly hit them, often after drinking, frequently in bed and never with their consent. Manning Barish and Selvaratnam categorize the abuse he inflicted on them as “assault.” They did not report their allegations to the police at the time, but both say that they eventually sought medical attention after having been slapped hard across the ear and face, and also choked. Selvaratnam says that Schneiderman warned her he could have her followed and her phones tapped, and both say that he threatened to kill them if they broke up with him."

A third former romantic partner of Schneiderman’s told Manning Barish and Selvaratnam that he also repeatedly subjected her to nonconsensual physical violence, but she told them that she is too frightened of him to come forward. (The New Yorker has independently vetted the accounts that they gave of her allegations.) A fourth woman, an attorney who has held prominent positions in the New York legal community, says that Schneiderman made an advance toward her; when she rebuffed him, he slapped her across the face with such force that it left a mark that lingered the next day. She recalls screaming in surprise and pain, and beginning to cry, and says that she felt frightened. She has asked to remain unidentified, but shared a photograph of the injury with 'The New Yorker'.

In a statement, Schneiderman said, “In the privacy of intimate relationships, I have engaged in role-playing and other consensual sexual activity. I have not assaulted anyone. I have never engaged in nonconsensual sex, which is a line I would not cross.”

Schneiderman's activism on behalf of feminist causes is legendary, and he has assumed an aggressive position in the investigation of Harvey Weinstein's activities in New York State.

Guided by the belief that "If a woman cannot control her body, she is not truly equal." Schneiderman has taken a particularly strong stand on behalf of women's reproductive rights. But, as Manning Barish sees it, “you cannot be a champion of women when you are hitting them and choking them in bed, and saying to them, ‘You’re a fucking whore.’ ” She says of Schneiderman’s involvement in the Weinstein investigation, “How can you put a perpetrator in charge of the country’s most important sexual-assault case?” Selvaratnam describes Schneiderman as “a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” figure, and says that seeing him lauded as a supporter of women has made her “feel sick,” adding, “This is a man who has staked his entire career, his personal narrative, on being a champion for women publicly. But he abuses them privately. He needs to be called out.”

Former Alabama  Senate candidate Roy Moore, a man with notoriety on multiple fronts including wanting to govern America as a theocracy, filed a lawsuit on Monday in the Circuit Court of Etowah County, Ala. where he lives with his wife Kayla, writes The New York Times.

Defendants in the suit are Leigh Corfman, Debbie Gibson, Tina Johnson and Beverly Nelson, charged with defaming and conspiring against Moore and his wife Kayla, and of committing libel and slander “by making statements which were false, malicious, and made with intentional or reckless disregard of the truth and with the intent that those statements be published to others, including through state and national media.”

“Those statements caused harm to the reputation and character of Judge Moore and also to his wife Kayla, lowered their standing in the community and discouraged members of the community from associating with them,” the lawsuit said.

British Actor Naomie Harris Cites Female Management Team In Porter Edit Interview April 20, 2018

British actor Naomie Harris is styled by Catherine Newell-Hanson for 'In Shape', lensed by Paola Kudacki for Porter Edit April 20, 2018.

Naomie Harris appeared in the Academy Award-winning Best Picture, 'Moonlight', where she was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA Award for her tour de force performance as the protagonist's mother, Paula.

Harris will appear next in director Andy Serkis’ feature adventure, “Mowgli,” as a member of a stellar cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett. The film is scheduled for release later this years.

On the subject of #MeToo in Hollywood, Naomie Harris says that it really wasn't a problem for her, admitting that she was 'protected' from sexual harassment by her managers -- protection not afforded to so many other Hollywood women by their own managers.

Harris candidly offers a simple example of how that works: 'When everything [about Harvey Weinstein] was blowing up, my manager did remind me about a person who asked me, post-screening, to go up to his room and have a drink.

But because my manager is amazing, she immediately stepped in and said, 'That's not happening under any circumstances'. It was four or five years ago."  Because she's been surrounded by primarily women on her team, Harris believes she's escaped much of the intimidation, misery or just plain good-fun, male pussy-grabbing so many other women actors have experienced.

Harris also takes up the topic of cultural appropriation, one that will surely bring a hailstorm of Twitter hate onto her shoulders. "'I think it’s a compliment to adopt other cultures and races’ ideas of what makes them look beautiful.'

Eye: Karl Lagerfeld Is "Fed Up" With #MeToo | Interview Magazine Scrambles | Georgina Chapman Is Ready For Marchessa Comeback

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld has an opinion on absolutely every topic, and now he's told Numero magazine that he is "fed up" with the #MeToo movement. Lagerfeld takes issue with moves in the fashion industry to embrace new regulations in the interest of protecting young models.

Lagerfeld was interviewed by Numero on International Women's Day -- perhaps not the best idea.

[Numero] Anyway, moving on, today is International Women’s Day…

{KL] For me Women’s Day is every day of the year. Men’s fashion does little for me. I buy it of course, and I’m delighted that Hedi [Slimane] is going to Céline but drawing a men’s collection and having to put up with all those stupid models, no thanks. Not to mention the fact with all their accusations of harassment they have become quite toxic. No, no, no, don’t leave me alone with one of those sordid creatures.
