Miu Miu CEO Benedetta Petruzzo Moves to Christian Dior Couture as Managing Director

Given the stellar performance of Miu Miu in a post-COVID luxury landscape, it has to be a crushing blow to lose Miu Miu CEO Benedetta Petruzzo.

Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture has confirmed Petruzzo’s arrival on Oct. 15.

"I am convinced that Benedetta's talent and leadership will be major assets in the continued development of Dior's activities and its international influence," Arnault said. "Her expertise in the luxury market will persist in enhancing the desirability and success of Dior. Together, with the excellence of the teams in place, we will carry on building the future and strengthening our organization."

Petruzzo arrived at Miu Miu in February 2020, weeks before the global onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her leadership, Miu Miu has seen significant growth, with retail sales surging 93 percent in the first half of 2024, outpacing Prada’s 6 percent increase over the same period.

The power of LVMH is paramount in this moment because of its commitments to promote from within its With so many brands in its LVMH portfolio, there’s a great deal of fluidity in executive opportunities for talented people.

WWD reports that 70% of key positions are promoted from within. Years ago Delphine Arnault vowed to dramatically improve the promotion of women across LVMH, and she has succeeded. In the same article WWD estimates women now fill about half of key promotions in recent years.

Petruzzo is not the first high-ranking executive to move into the organization without the CEO title. In late spring Montblanc’s CEO Nicolas Baretzki joined Dior as its new deputy managing director in charge of commercial activities.

Petruzzo is to succeed Dior’s current managing director, Charles Delapalme, who is to “take on important new responsibilities within the LVMH Group” following a transition period. Those plans will be announced at a later date.
