Valentina Sampaio Brings High Summer Covers to Vogue Brazil January 2024

Brazilian trans activist model Valentina Sampaio takes three covers for the January 2024 issue of Vogue Brazil [IG]. Leandro Porto styles Sampaio, who lives in New York and Brazil in images by Mariana Maltoni [IG].

Sampaio was photographed on the beach of Paúba, on the north coast of São Paulo for a high summer fashion story “Natureza Surreal”, which fills 20 pages of the edition.

Valentina Sampaio was the first trans model to cover the world-famous Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in July 2020. Famously in the fashion industry, it was Victoria’s Secret’s then CMO Ed Razek’s negative comments about Sampaio as a trans model for VS that famously became the “nail in the coffin” in his tenure at VS.
