Isabeli Fontana by Craig McDean for Sensuous Nude by Estee Lauder

Estee Lauder will launch Sensuous Nude in August 2011.

“Sensuality needs full expression — no one scent encompasses the full expression of what is sensuous,” Jane Hertzmark Hudis, global brand president for Estée Lauder tells WWD. “We always intended to use Sensuous as a platform to explore that concept. We are building this franchise for the long haul.”

If the original Sensuous is intended to express an ethereal, feminine aspect of sensuality, Sensuous Nude is focused on the personal, uninhibited mature of modern sensuality with notes that suggest bare skin.

When Sensuous first launch in the summer of 2008, Aerin Lauder said:

“Each model represents a different side of sensuality. Hilary conveys youth, while Carolyn’s classic look communicates elegance. As an actress, Gwyneth brings an emotional range to sensuality and Elizabeth portrays confidence and wisdom.”

My response was a theme that has only expanded in our websites:

It’s my fervent hope that perhaps Estee Lauder can redefine, and rebrand,  the word “sensuality” .  Believe it or not, according the thesaurus, “sensual” is: sexual, sexy, suggestive, voluptuous, carnal, coarse, erotic, fleshy, irreligious, lewd, licentious, lurid, seductive, self-indulgent … you get the idea. Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana will be featured in the Sensuous Nude campaign. Fontana is shot by Craig McDean posing in a sheer wrap on a California beach. Sunset light envelopes Isabeli with sensuality.

Of all the companies that can help me rebrand the concept of sensuality, Estee Lauder knows how. Their brands always take the high ground in understanding the conflicting messages that women get about being sexy and respectable.

Women are stoned to death over the assertion that sensuality is irreligious and an exposed ankle corrupts mankind. Anne
