Miu Miu Highlights Preservation Hall Traditions & Bayous In Alasdair McLellan's Spring 2017.18 Campaign
/Miuccia Prada releases her Miu Miu Fall 2017 campaign in full, and it's such a delight! Building on the momentum of a late June teaser:
Miuccia Prada takes her Miu Miu brand to the bayous of New Orleans, mixing Indian Summer romantic looks with spirited tunes from the Preservation Hall Brass Brand's spirited sounds. Alasdair McLellancaptures actor Naomi Harris and the legendary Kate Moss, sisters Adwoa and Kesewa Aboah, MIssy Rayder, Jean Campbell, Eliza Cummings, Jasmine Daniels, Rose Daniels and Lily Nova feeling the vibe. Stylist Katie Grand chooses kitschy furs and 40s-inspired printed frocks in a Miu Miu Fall 2017 fashion statement 'Daughters of the Dust'.
In today's political climate on both right and left, it's important to understand that Miuccia Prada is not co-opting the colorful Preservation Hall for white people. In fact, there is a long tradition of racial mixing and interaction at Preservation Hall, now a foundation, founded by Philadelphia transplants Allan and Sandra Jaffe in 1961.
Vanity Fair wrote an in-depth look at the history of Preservation Hall in January 2012, the year of its golden anniversary.
