If Luxury Has a Key Item, Chanel's Matthieu Blazy Launched 'La chemise blanche'

Anne of Carversville is ‘on the record’ embracing the belief that Chanel artistic director Matthieu Blazy has quickly soared to the summit of a global, luxury clients love-in around his vision — not only for the Chanel brand, but for Coco Chanel herself.

In this fashion story ‘Paradis Blanc’ model Billie Dane is styled by Laëtitia Leporcq in white shirts from Blazy’s Charvet x Chanel collaboration, Brunello Cucinelli, Louis Vuitton and more. Photographer Andréa Gori [IG] captures a core item of fashion’s new season for M Le magazine du Monde [IG] March 2026.

M gives Matthieu Blazy his flowers for the artful way he wove Coco Chanel’s life story and her obsession with shirts from Charvet into his fall presentation. Gabrielle Chanel herself wore shirts from Charvet, borrowed from her lover, Boy Capel.

In a run-up to a season where only one designer can be described as ubiquitous to the exclusion of everyone else [ad nauseam for AOC], WSJ moved to repair the lack of attention on Chanel’s Blazy with this excellent article, calling what we’ve just watched as “unprecedented”. Good word choice, WSJ.

AOC admits being prejudiced about crowning Sun Kings in advance of their actual performance. We define performance as actual clients — not fashion media or social media posts and PR interviews — but women [mostly] paying full freight for luxury clothes.

Here Blazy buried his rival, from all we know — and without having that agenda. Only one designer has the officially-declared goal of being the best living designer. As a conductor, Blazy is more focused on his Chanel orchestra.

The designer’s enormous talents emerge from the growing ‘Less I; More Us’ New Humanism philosophy of creative director or artistic director leadership. This philosophy is fervently embraced by Pharrell Williams at Louis Vuitton Men; Maria Grazia Chiuri at Fendi; Brunello Cucinelli and — by Anne’s nomination — Ralph Lauren.

This list is alive and expanding with great momentum. AOC’s goal is to keep our eye on this ball, which is a client-centric focus. ~ Anne
