Sydney Sweeney, Caught in the Moment by Elizaveta Porodina for WSJ Magazine September 2025

Sydney Sweeney is the ‘woman of the hour’ today and not because of her gorgeous photoshoot by Elizaveta Porodina [IG] in the September 2025 issue of WSJ Magazine [IG]. Tonne Goodman styles Sweeney in Miu Miu on the cover and Alaïa, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy by Sarah Burton, LaQuan Smith, Stella McCartney, Versace and more./ Hair by Glen Oropeza; makeup by Yumi Lee; set design by Milena Gorum

AOC has gifted this article and Sweeney interview on WSJ.

She’s not the ‘woman of the hour’ because of a led-by-the-right to bait-the-left manufactured controversy over her recent American Eagle ads.

AOC Repeats: Sweeney’s American Eagle Controversy Was Only a Few Uber-Progressives. Then Charlie Kirk Made It a BFD

A few days after the initial criticism of her American Eagle ads by a small, very vocal fringe group of lefties with small followings, conservative influencers, such as the account Libs of TikTok, began mocking the critiques and presenting them as an example of ‘triggered’ liberals.

I’ve dealt with these same people over my blonde hair. They ask me how I can stand to look at myself in the mirror. They are an absolute menace, a small, loud group of hateful, regressive lefties with plenty of company on the right.

Nothing-Burgers Go Viral

Back to Sweeney and American Eagle, these high-profile right-wingers reposted and amplified the left-leaning criticisms, dramatically increasing their reach. And then Conservative ‘kings’ like the recently-murdered in Utah on Wednesday Charlie Kirk, Clay Travis, and Michael Knowles piled on — dedicating significant airtime to what they called ‘brain broken’ Democratic culture.

We don’t know yet if Charlie Kirk’s killer, now-in-custody Tyler Robinson, 22, took him out over the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle manufactured-by-the-right controversy. His laundry list of hate will be revealed in the coming days.

No. No. No. None of the above are reasons why Sweeney is the woman of the hour.

The reason Sydney Sweeney is loud and proud is because her November 2025 release ‘Christy’ movie trailer dropped hours ago, and it’s a blockbuster.

With right-wingers so in love with Sweeney after her American Eagle campaign, it will be interesting to see how they feel about her performance as boxer Christy Martin. Two thoughts.

1] American Eagle has renewed its relationship with Sydney Sweeney, as indicated by the brand's Chief Marketing Officer and confirmed by the CEO during an earnings call on September 4, 2025.

2] Sweeney’s role in ‘Christy’ is one of a very successful boxer ambivalent about her privately-held lesbian sexuality, who also suffers horrific physical abuse from her husband. Disruptive, no?

President Trump Wants to Drop Domestic Violence As a Serious Problem

The trailer dropped today, September 12, when America’s President Trump dismissed domestic violence as a "little fight with the wife" in a speech September 8th at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Trump claimed that incidents "that take place in the home" were preventing him from saying he had achieved a 100% reduction in crime in Washington, D.C. President Trump then suggested these incidents should not count in crime statistics.

I will not launch into a discussion of the leading causes of death among women under 35, but I assure you that it’s not heart disease. And it’s not toddlers finding a gun loose in the house where daddy left it and accidentally shooting mommy.

On that note, the WSJ goes to pottery class with Sydney Sweeney interview is top of page w/a complimentary AOC link. My apologies to WSJ, but after watching the Sweeney trailer — and given the assassination of Charlie Kirk — there was no way Anne could write an AOC-lite review about the enormously-talented actor Sydney Sweeney.
