Moncler x EE72: Edward Enninful Launches Moncler Genius Collaboration

Edward Enninful [IG] embarks on a big week in his latest — and greatest — fashion industry, personal metamorphosis with his inaugural Moncler Genius collection, titled Moncler x EE72. Edward has worked with Moncler in the past, but not in his official capacity as designer.

Moncler and Enninful bring this Moncler x EE72 vision to life with a window display at Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York Flagship, timed with the start of New York Fashion Week. The presentation spans seven windows at 5th Avenue and 50th Street: three depict golden dunes, three showcase snowy peaks, and the central window represents the confluence of sand and snow.

Tomorrow, September 12, Edward will officially launch his new quarterly magazine EE72. Center stage in this week of exciting big reveals is his prize protege Adut Akech. The name EE72 is a nod to Enninful’s initials and birth year, reflecting personal involvement from start to finish.

The creative’s work consistently champions diversity, creativity, and cultural advancement. Now, more than ever, AOC supports these priorities, too.

The collaboration is crafted for a global traveler navigating sunlit deserts, breezy coasts, and snowy mountains. Each outfit is designed for functionality, flexibility, and layering, unified by a monochrome black palette.

Moncler x EE72

This collection marks Enninful’s first foray into fashion design, aligning with Moncler Genius's philosophy of partnering with influential creative figures. He introduces a vision that combines high fashion with functionality and modularity, all grounded in Moncler’s technical acumen. The outcome is a comprehensive system for traversing wind, sand, and snow, all in the color black, from clothing to accessories.

Three design principles guide the collection:

Wind: A sleek trench coat sets the stage, featuring a matte finish and elegant lines. A detachable glossy nylon laqué puffer provides extra weather protection. Concealed straps allow the outer layer to be worn as a backpack. A puffer hood doubles as a scarf, complemented by Cloche sunglasses.

Sand: A sleek scuba dress forms the basis, paired with a sculpted hooded cape and a long scarf. This look references Moncler’s puffer heritage while ensuring freedom of movement.

Snow: Layers begin with a fine wool turtleneck, followed by a cardigan dress and an oversized merino wool jacket. A balaclava offers warmth, and Trailgrip EE72 boots tackle icy surfaces.

Each ensemble follows a simple strategy: build a base, add protective elements, and alter components without disrupting the aesthetic. The wardrobe functions as a cohesive system rather than isolated pieces, with hats and bags enhancing adaptability to changing conditions and landscapes.

Tyler Mitchell in London

Photographer Tyler Mitchell [IG] captures the Moncler x EE72 campaign built around Akech.

This group will be drinking too much champagne, between Edward’s new ventures and Mitchell celebrating the first public display of works from ‘Portrait of the Modern Dandy,’ a visual essay developed for the catalogue of ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, the spring 2025 Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

On view in London from September 15 through October 3, 2025, the installation at Gagosian, Burlington Arcade coincides with the European launch of Mitchell’s first monograph with Aperture, ‘Wish This Was Real’, and features a curated selection of publications that inform and expand his practice.

On Saturday, September 20, from 3 to 6pm, Gagosian will host a book signing with the artist for both Wish This Was Real and the Superfine catalogue.
