Hunter Schafer Covers Vogues Italia and Germany, Lensed by Ethan James Green

The June 2024 issues of Vogue Italia and Vogue Germany share a fashion story ‘At Home’ starring actor and activist Hunter Schafer.

The fashion story attempts to reconcile the public and the private. Each image by photographer Ethan James Green [IG] reveals an aspect of performance while simultaneously concealing reality. Living under constant surveillance, being watched is internalized and self-imposed by the woman, role-played by Schafer. “To be a woman is to perform, even if only your reflection is watching.”

The fashion shoot is styled by Dara Allen with creative direction by Raul Martinez./ Hair by Sonny Molina; makeup by Aaron de Mey

Hunter brews tea wearing Bottega Veneta above, while wearing a vintage showgirl headpiece. The actor does a Facetime fitting in Christopher John Rogers and Swarovski; gets ‘unready’ in Vivienne Westwood; drinks milk in Sportmax; gets unready in Vivienne Westwood; reads a novel in Isabel Marant; recycles in Isabel Marant; recycles in Prada; and bathes in YSL.

Other designers in the story include Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs and more.

Hunter Schafer’s New Roles

‘Blade Runner 2099’

The ‘Euphoria’ actor has snagged a lead role in Prime Video’s ‘Blade Runner 2099’, sharing the screen with Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh. Season three production on ‘Euphoria’ has been delayed while creator Sam Levison reworks his scripts in film noire mode, opening up the opportunity for Schafer to accept another role.

‘Mother Mary’

Schafer recently wrapped her supporting role in ‘Mother Mary’, one that promises major appeal to fashion and music culture lovers. The film follows a pop star acted by Anne Hathaway engaged in a twisted romantic relationship with a fashion designer played by Michaela Coel.

Schafer’s role is Hilda, the personal assistant to Coel as fashion designer. Top creative Kaia Gerber also has a role in ‘Mother Mary’, which will feature original songs by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX.

‘Perishables’

The concept of conversion therapy is hardly a mystery to the trans and LGBTQ activist. Schafer will undergo conversion therapy in her June-announced new film project in development 'Perishables' by British filmmaker Oscar Sharp.

The story line of ‘Perishables’, expressed on Schafer’s IG is fascinating:

"In a world where people fall in love with inanimate objects, a woman who is attracted to perishable items instead enters a conversion therapy program to try and change her inclination."
