Emily Ratajkowski Covers Vogue Australia December 2023 by Lachlan Bailey

Emily Ratajkowski covers the December 2023 issue of Vogue Australia [IG]. Journalist Mahalia Chang sits down with the mother of one to discuss freedom, privacy and self worth — a triad of issues associated with the politically active, feminist mega-talent and model for several years now.

Lachlan Bailey [IG] photographs Ratajkowski with styling by Vogue Australia EIC Christine Centenera.

Emily R is currently under fire for posing in a Le Monde M Magazine story standing in a pair of very plus-size ladies pants with much room to spare. THAT qualifies as a fatphobic mortal sin in America among so-called progressive women. [LOL, sorry]

Anne is reading several books right now, and the one titled ‘The Coddling of the American Mind’ seems appropriate with regard to Emrata’s controversial-in-America photo shoot.

Are we now going to demand that photo shoots be pre-approved by some government federal agency, so as not to offend anyone? It wouldn’t surprise me.

Would I do it as an editor? No. But I will defend the right of a French magazine to have their model standing in a pair of oversized pants with room to spare, if that’s their creative decision.

Yes, knowing France and French women as well as I do, they take great pride in being thinner than American women in the aggregate.

Emily Ratajkowski works very hard for her body and she can do with it as she pleases. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to be fighting for?

It’s not fatphobia on her part. She likes how she looks and — to be frank — she’s not at all focused on how we look. As for Vogue Australia, you guys did a great job.
