Black-ish Star Yara Shahidi Joins Malia Obama In Harvard's Freshman Class

Former US First Lady Michelle Obama and Black-ish star Yara Shahidi working for girls' education

It helps to get a letter of recommendation from former First Lady Michelle Obama, an accolade that no doubt helped talented Black-ish star Yara Shahidi with acceptance letters to all four of her university applications.

Shahidi will join Malia Obama as a Harvard freshman in September, announcing her decision on Instagram with important words from James Baldwin:  “The paradox of education is precisely this—that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated.”

Shahidi worked hard on the former First Lady's education initiative 'Let Girls Learn', a program reportedly cut out entirely by the Trump administration, although the White House pushed back on this assertion in early May.
