In America: the Middle Ages or the Renaissance
It’s shocking to understand that in America, MAGA Republicans want to dial back the rights of women and people of color and a host of other human rights also, to the Middle Ages.
Countering that historical reality was the growth of humanism and the Renaissance. Socially, the Renaissance also saw a slow shift in perceptions of women's roles, partially influenced by the humanist movement, which advocated for the potential and dignity of the individual.
The Rise of Selfish Plutocrats
On February 7, Brian Klaas, an associate professor of global politics at University College London, wrote an important article in The Atlantic ‘The Rise of the Selfish Plutocrats’.
AOC has been writing about the rebirth of humanism for several years now, and I’ve referred to the Bernard Arnault family as modern-day Medicis. That was meant as a compliment, because I do believe that the family believes in a certain degree of social responsibility that accompanies their wealth.
Brunello Cuccinelli absolutely embraces a range of social responsibilities attached to the success of his brands. He is also very instrumental in reinvigorating the fundamental concept of humanism.
