Trump Administration Seeks To Put Women Back Into An Ozzie & Harriet World
/PEW Research estimated in April 2017 that the gender gap in pay has narrowed since 1980, particularly among younger workers -- a fact that makes sense. In 2015, women earned 83% of what men earned in PEW's analysis of median hourly earnings of both full- and part-time US workers. Among adults ages 25-34, women earned 90 cents for every dollar earned by a man in the same group.
This positive trend for female workers is reversed about new reporting in the Trump administration. Let's be clear. Democratic women didn't run this gender-based, pay gap analysis for the Donald Trump administration. It was developed by the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.
Since Trump entered the White House and sent the number of women working in important position back to the days of Ronald Reagan, he has also increased the gender pay gap among White House staffers from 11 percent under President Obama to 37 percent under Trump.
Indeed, Trump is rolling us back to Ozzie & Harriett years, which was his stated goal, one shared by large numbers of Trump voters. The Donald thinks men should wear the big pants, so his administration hires women in secondary staff positions and the big guys as their bosses. How quaint!!!
The fact that he then hires women who don't believe in birth control -- women like Charmaine Yoest and Teresa Manning -- to oversee women's healthcare just adds insult to injury.
Even more disturbing than the reality of how Donald Trump has staffed his administration with so few women in top positions, is deep concern among ALL American women, except for highly conservative Republican women who embrace traditional gender roles with men at the head of the family and women at home, that Republicans are totally dedicated to rolling back women's progress in America.
If Ivanka Trump can count heads, she knows that her efforts on behalf of women are worthless in daddy's White House. She may think she's building her brand with all her silly talk, but actually Ivanka's condemning herself to retail markdown hell except at TJ Maxx and Walmart, because millions of women are beginning to loathe her big talk about women almost as much as we loathe her father's. Ivanka has as much credibility as the President, which is saying she has none.
"The data comes from the White House’s annual report to Congress, which was released Friday, and which shows the salary of each employee. To calculate the gender pay gap, economist Mark Perry compared the median salary of male staffers ($115,000) to the median salary for female staffers ($72,650). Initially, media outlets reported a significantly smaller disparity, but their numbers were incorrectly based on mean rather than median salaries.
As the Washington Post reports, the 37-percent gap is more than double the national 17-percent gender pay gap, and it’s wider than the national gender pay gap in 1980, as reported by Pew Research..
Ozzie . . . Ozzie, wait for me!! I'm just dying to run backwards into your loving arms!
The huge disparity in Trump’s White House is mostly because the vast majority of high-paying positions are held by men — of the top 101 highest-paid employees there, almost 75 percent are dudes. (Under Obama, it was just 52 percent.) In contrast, of the 102 lowest-paid employees, almost 60 percent are women."
The median female White House employee is drawing a salary of $72,650 in 2017, compared to the median male salary of $115,000. The typical female staffer in Trump's White House earns 63.2 cents per $1 earned by a typical male staffer, and the math doesn't lie.
The Republican War on Women is real!!! They are coming at us from every direction, not only reproductive rights. This is NO JOKE!!! ~ Anne
