Vladimir Glynin | Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre - Swan Lake

Vladimir Glynin began his career as a ballet dancer at the Bolshoi Theatre. His first photographs showed life backstage at the Bolshoi, with his first exhibit in 2004 in Moscow.

In 2008, Glynin snapped a series of dramatic and sensual black and white images as ballet dancers from Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre recreated the famous Russian ballet ‘Swan Lake’ by Tchaikovsky.

Styled by Vadim Galaganov, the project was exhibited in Moscow, London & Austria before being sold to private collections.

The images are erotic but also violent. Bodies operate as a single unit, but one also in mortal combat for primacy on the stage and in real life.
