Lens More Marc Hom Images of Lydia Hearst, Jessica Hart & Nuns
/Jessica Hart & Lydia Hearst | Marc Hom | Private Sitting Sensuality News Provocateurs
Note | Nudity One of the top fashion blogs is making a strangely worded, negative analysis of the Jessica Hart & Lydia Hearst images, lensed by celebrity photographer Marc Hom, traveling the Internet. I posted them in Sensuality News Provocateurs, not only because of their nudity but because I consider them to be provocative statement about female sexuality.
When I pulled the photos, they represented to me another good commentary about the intersection of women’s lives, sensuality, religion and the art world.
This writer is bored with nuns in art editorial.
Is there not, in the fashion world, an obsession with breaking stereotypes? There’s certainly a habit (pun intended) of turning the nun stereotype upside-down as a way of constructing a sexualised, surprising shoot concept. Only problem is it’s no longer very surprising, given we’ve seen similar examples with Ashley Smith, Lara Stone and Miranda Kerr to name just a few. via
The fact that a fashion website chooses to post the images doesn’t mean they were shot as fashion images, although the shoot reference is in the fashion section on Trish South Management’s Marc Hom’s links.
I disagree that we’ve had too many nun shoots.
As the Vatican investigates American nuns for suspicious behavior that doesn’t uphold the patriarchal values of the church; as American women are fighting off one bill after another in Congress that seeks to take away our abortion rights because the Vatican demands it; and as the women of Sudan who supported Lubna Hussein in her 2009 flogging case for wearing too-tight trousers in public watch another horrific flogging of woman video, as sharia is administered to a poor woman in a suburb of Khartoum (files delivered to me personally) — I say bring on the nun shots.
