Scandinavia and 'Down Under' Are Commie Feminists
/
Save the Children has released its annual “Mothers Index”, putting Norway at the top of the rankings as the best country for being a mom. As expected the US falls low on the list, even below Greece, which is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.
OK, that’s not fair of me. The Wall Street guys will say: “See, that’s what happens when we try to create benefits for women in a country. The damn socialists bankrupt the nation!”
It’s true. There is some merit to the argument that societies pay a cost for making motherhood a priority.
As usual, the socialist Scandinavian countries hog the limelight, collecting accolades for making humanity a priority. There’s some kind of Communist wing that runs from Scandinavia under the water to Australia and New Zealand.
It could be some kind of feminist plot! Maybe these countries buy their way into the rankings, treating NGO and nonprofit people like they’re Congressmen in Washington. Every report we publish says the same blah, blah, blah statistics about women’s lives in these countries.
American rang its liberty bell in 28th place in the global ranking. We may be the divine-right country, but not when it comes to taking care of moms.
The good Lord says: “Ladies, where’s your pioneer spirit. Suck it up. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. If these benefits in other countries cost money, we don’t have to hear about it. Besides, you could live in Africa or Afghanistan, so cut the whining.
If Sarah Palin can manage five kids, one with Down’s syndrome, and still have great legs, you American girls get a smile on your faces.”
Yes, sir!
How about the facts. And who is ahead of us on this slippery slope of the downward spiral of American women?
“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby will have to stand in front of Obama’s death panel so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”
-Sarah Palin, in a message posted on Facebook about Obama’s health care plan, Aug. 7, 2009
Maternal Mortality Rate
You know that great American health care system all the flag wavers are screaming about? It’s not so good for mothers.
Our maternal mortality rate of one in 4,800 is one of the highest in the developed world.
“A woman in the Unites States is more than five times as likely as a woman in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece or Italy to die from pregnancy-related causes in her lifetime and her risk of maternal death is nearly 10-fold that of a woman in Ireland,” the report said.
Child Mortality Rate
Kids don’t score so well either. America’s rate of eight per 1,000 births puts us on a par with Slovakia and Montenegro. That’s not bad company!
A child in the US is more than twice as likely as a child in Finland, Iceland, Sweden or Singapore to die before his or her fifth birthday,” the report noted.
All right Glenn Beck. I hear you. Socialist; socialist; socialist. Probably Commies, too. Where’s my damn American flag. Somebody needs to rally for American moms who love liberty more than rights and services.
PLEASE, do we have to talk about kids again! WE DON’T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT!
Only 61 percent of America’s children were enrolled in preschool, which on this indicator made it the seventh-lowest country in the developed world of 43 nations.
The United States has the least generous maternity leave policy — both in terms of duration and percent of wages paid — of any wealthy nation.
Look, you tell Save the Children where they can put their socialist agenda! We’ll not have it in the United States of America!
In Good Company
This list bores me.
If my choice is Norway, Australia, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany in one corner of ‘mommy havens’ and Niger, Chad, Guinea-Bissau, Yemen, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Sudan, Eritrea, Equatorial Guinea and Afghanistan below us, I say we stand tall and shine next to these guys.
Think marketing strategy. Happiness is relative.
American women should stop believing they have rights. I don’t know where we got these high falutin’ ideas that moms are some kind of God-given priority in this country.
We are returning to a strict interpretation of the Constitution in America and rights for women were not in that document. Perhaps you complainers need a historical refresher courses.
American woman, thy name is humility. The sooner you get that straight, the better. Now suck it in and grab the bottle of antidepressants. If that doesn’t work, call me in the morning. Anne
