New Kind of Powwow: Secy Clinton Targets Women's Economic Development in the Americas
/In a historic example of Secretary of State Clinton’s commitment to women, Washington, DC played host to the first Pathways to Prosperity Women Entrepreneurs’ Conference, held from October 7 to 9. Washington D.C.
Participants from Manitoba, Canada to Santiago, Chile, gathered in the State Department’s Treaty Room to discuss how empowering women was integral to progress, prosperity, and peace in every country.
The conference, co-sponsored by the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, featured dynamic, innovative, and interactive programs linking early career entrepreneurs with more seasoned businesswomen. The mission of this initiative is to launch a network of entrepreneurs that will promote access to markets, finance and training for women throughout the Western Hemisphere.
