Low-Dose, Low Calorie Champagne Excites Mind & Body

I believe in celebrating life, even on bad days. When it comes to drinks that lift my spirits, champagne is at the top of my list.

If excessive champagne didn’t ruin my bank account, my liver and my lust for working, I would drink it for breakfast.

The world of ‘low dosage’ and ‘zero dosage’ champagne is new to me.

The British Perspective

Anna Pickard explains that “low dosage is basically a fancy name for having less sugar in your bubbles. I like my champagne very, very dry and am a good candidate for enjoying ‘low dosage’ champagne.

Low-dosage wine is also additive free, placing it dead-center in the growing organic wine movement.

Tasting the new balance of sugar in her glass, Pickard reports that “flavours of the grapes seem to come through more clearly: blends containing more chardonnay taste sharp, light and citrussy; ones based on pinot noir appear rounder and more fruity.”

Stateside Libations

Let’s turn to  Brooklynguy’s Wind and Food Blog for a more informed discussion of non-dosage champagne. I am insanely jealous over his column Friday Night Bubbles. What a blog column to write!

Enjoy, Anne
